Thank you OP! I estimate attics and crawl spaces and am one of the few salesman who ACTUALLY go and look at the damn job, This is perfect and I just came back from my local Wally world picking it up, perfect for what I will need it for. Thank you again.

This mirrors my experience. I've had several devices "killed" by Duracell. When I was a kid they were the best batteries you could get. Now, I avoid them like the plague.
I've switched the the Kirkland brand from Costco. They last about as long as Duracell without the equipment destroying suicide plunge. I've had 100's of dollars worth of equipment ruined by Duracell.

Bought one 2 years ago from Amazon on a lighting deal. Best pen light for working on vehicles. Been using it everyday for work. It dose have it's issues every once in a while with the switch. But I love it even over my pelican pen light work bought for me. I order 4 more as backups.

May be too bright to shine directly at the eyes
We typically don't shine lights directly into the eyes for assessments - it just feels like it. And if the beam does flash across, it's briefly. It doesn't take direct light to get the pupils to react. I certainly will evaluate it when received, I'm not in interested in putting my patients on the business end of a spotlight. Smilie

However, something bright will be great for wound and skin inspection - I noticed an EMT lamenting the loss of several of his, praising the durability. I'm really excited to get it, you'd be surprised at how often nurses need a good lamp.

Auto bodies or human bodies, we still need to see all those nooks and crannies. laugh out loud

The title says INSPECTION BEAM flashlight. The beam is designed to inspect inside dark enclosed spaces. Wiring, plumbing, engines, electronics, joists, ducts or similar. It is also good for reading labels in the dark. Too bright for medical use. It is literally a spot light with no spread. Anyone who does not understand this, does not need one. Burglars excepted.
There is no such thing as a light too bright for medical use. The eyes aren't the only thing I look at - sadly I regularly have to look yer nethers, too. laugh out loud

Wound care is another part of nursing care. As is intubation, suction, trach care etc (any idea how dark it is down your gullet?).

Too bright for medical use. LOL! While I might not be using this for neuro assessments, I certainly will be using it for a number of uses. Again, thanks to OP for the heads up on a great deal. It's always nice to have a tool in my pocket that helps make my job a little easier!

If you get one of these open it right away and check for battery corrosion. I would not put them back in if you are not using.

They pack these with Duracell's that will corrode. It is difficult to clean because it gets into the switch.
So true, I had one and loved it! Didn't use it for a while and found it was corroded beyond salvaging, had to toss it

Just received mine - outstanding little lamp! Aluminum body, clip will make sure it doesn't fall out of my scrubs. Very sharp looking, I'm definitely going to get light envy, and am going to have to smack a few hands away. Wink

While I will still have to grab a less-intense lamp for my neuros, this is going to be my go-to for physical assessments because it has a focused, neutral-colored beam. It's perfect. I regret only ordering one.

Great light for the intended purpose.

I would get another, but I have a primary and a spare, and the regular price isn't enough more to justify stocking up for the unlikely event that I lose this.

To the medical people out there inspecting eyes, look for a light dedicated to that purpose. I think Coast makes one but I'm not sure. I am sure I saw a similar looking one for under ten bucks a couple weeks ago on Amazon.

Depends who you ask, but the Pelican 1910B is a good choice for 1-AAA light with clicky, two levels and lifetime warranty. It often goes on sale for about $14.

Comparable lights are the Streamlight Microstream (1-level, 1-year) and O-Light 13T EOS (2-level, 5-year). They go on sale for about $16. Coast makes the G10, sold for only $10 with lifetime warranty, but it has an inspection beam like this thread, making it limited to some uses. All of these brands have a 2-AAA version worth looking at, too. Others will suggest Fenix, Surefire and Thrunite, but as far as I know they don't have US locations, so you deal with the seller for any issues.
