Combine 2 of these w/ the $15 Chase Ultimate Rewards promo to make it 17.99 per drive.

This drive is fine. I have used it before with no issue. Capacity is kinda small for me, but good for others.

I did notice something odd in the reviews though. Negative reviews, despite there being relatively few of them, they were most prominent on the main page. Digging into it, I found out why...

There's a guy who is using bots to upvote and comment negative reviews. I'm guessing it's likely because the seller wouldn't pay him to bot the positive reviews. Look at the comments for the top rated negative reviews, all variations of the same (broken english) message
Then look at this message that predates any of them. (see attached pic)

EDIT: My Bad, uploaded the wrong pic... Fixed it.
Why keep pointing out it was $15 when it lasted just a couple hours and was a discount error? And exactly what does the link you provided help with? You can't get it at that price again. All I can think is that you're just bragging about it.
Specific need is partly why they still exist. Older machines that need a refresh or budget machines you get at big box stores for $200 get a nice boost from using these small drives as boot drives.

They're kind of the perfect size to price ratio for putting an SSD into an older laptop to get either a few more years from it or a better resale price out of it. Or to put into a machine you bought without a drive to get it up and running, or to replace a crashed spinning drive for a coworker who's too cheap to go big.

I'm using one that I got from a recent pricing err0r by Best Buy. I haven't noticed anything bad about it. I guess time will tell, but so far so good.

Seems to me these small drives are pretty useless these days unless you have a specific need. I mean they sell flash drives this size now.

They're big enough to be OS install drives (and let other larger capacity drives handle most of your programs/data), especially on PCs that don't have any slots for M2.

If I didn't have a relative pile of 120-250GB SSDs already, I'd probably buy a couple.

This would be good for older laptop upgrade for people who just surf and use facebook.

Or what I last used one of the tiny ones for, Server boot drives, and I even only partitioned half the drive. Enough for the OS, programs, and the extra for temp files and updates. The rest I use as over-provisioning. It will last 100 years... lol.
