I have some UNused sprint sim cards but how can I know if it will work BEFORE signing up?
Which sim is in the phone you plan to use for the deal? Curious if you understand the difference between GSM and CDMA networks?

I think Tello uses Sprint. But now that sprint has merged with tmobile, what's going to happen?
As long as your phone supports VoLTE, you should be fine.

OTOH, The merged company is supposed to spin off some of their customers to a new wireless telco controlled by Dish Network. Boost customers are being outboarded there, Tello may follow.

Tello has data rollover. If you manually renew your plan each month before it auto renews, they will rollover your data to the next month's. They are your bits, you paid for it. Why lose it? That and unlimited 2G after LTE is worth quite a lot.

I wouldn't say T-Mobile is definitely better than Sprint. Legacy Sprint service for me is twice as fast as T-Mobile.
Lol Sprint worked for you so Tello is best for you. Great, but sadly not many ppl can say the same thing. 2G and rollover is nice, but it just icing in the cake and not the decisive factor for ppl to switch Tello.

And I'm not saying Tello is bad, but this deal in itself is not really better from previous Tello deals. Stacksocial is offered 6 months 2GB data for $39 several time in the past and it offer more value then this one. So deal is okay, just not the best you can get if you can switch to Tello.

And really though, GSM is always more popular for prepaid customer. Like who gonna buy new Sprint phone just to switch?

Is there a way to make this work for a tablet LTE? I can't get past the IMEI check without being prompted to buy a phone.

FYI I just got emails for all my old Tello lines saying they will be deactivated if additional funds aren't added. All of these lines came about when RingPlus went under so I am sure others have them.

I did nothing with these lines for years other than make an occasional call/text. That was enough to keep them active. I guess Tello decided otherwise now.

Thanks! looks like they charge taxes, unlike some of the other prepaid carriers.

I'm on Tello now, moved my whole family a few months back when there was a 6 month promo. I think that I'll probably go somewhere else when the period is up. I tell my friends that I think I flew too close to the sun saving a buck with Tello.

The customer service is very pleasant, but I've just had issue after issue. At first, we only received 4 out of 5 SIM cards. Then I took too long to activate, so three or four of the accounts had lapsed, and I needed to bug customer service again to apply a discount code.

There was also an issue with my wife's iPhone XR. We'd been on Project Fi, and she had used hangouts for SMS/MMS. When we moved to Tello, Hangouts stopped working, and she stopped being able to reply to group messages when there was an Android user on the conversation. I went through about a million troubleshooting steps, including doing a hard reset on the phone, and there was still no luck. I called Apple support, they walked me through the same steps (no luck). Then they conferenced in Tello support. They did some sort of network reset on their end, still no luck. Then they just gave up and said to take the phone into an Apple store.
I had that EXACT same issue on Mint Mobile on an iPhone 7, I'll PM you what fixed it for me.

Glad to learn the problem wasn't Tello.

For all of you thinking 2g is usable after the 4g is up...

Activity 4G Download Time 3G Download Time 2G Download Time
Accessing typical web page 0.5 seconds 4 seconds 3 minutes
Sending an e-mail without attachments <0.1 seconds <0.1 seconds 1 second
Downloading high-quality photograph 0.5 seconds 4 seconds 3 minutes
Downloading an music track (MP3) 3 seconds 10 seconds 7 minutes
Downloading an application 8 seconds 1 minute 40 minutes

can't get it to formal but you get the pic.
