Does it turn on after pressing down a button that stays engaged? I ask because my current setup uses a smart plug to automatically turn on the water boiler 5 min before my alarm every morning. It is just a cheap water boiler with a single switch that stays engaged so it works with the smart plug. Anything that doesn't turn on automatically when powered on won't work for me although the gooseneck and target temp are nice features

you dont want that feature. infact, these switches need to pop back after its boiled. imaging the button stays engaged forever...

Right, my cheap water boiler's switch pops up and turns off once it boils. I'm asking if this does the same with a switch

I have the bonavita and I'm tempted to get the OXO. I like the dial for changing temps. Buttons are kinda annoying.
No issues with the bonavita though.

In the gooseneck thread, there were a few comparisons and it seemed like people preferred the oxo over the bonavita, if I'm not mistaken
Some do prefer one over the other, with perhaps more for the OXO regarding pourover. Idk, we love our Bona and have had it for 3 years with daily use. Just offering the recommendation for those who want to stay away from the plastic or just have a comparison. Smilie

these are popular with the pour over coffee crowd. Where they control the temp and the way the water is poured over the coffee.
Ah I can see the possible advantage there.

I do pour over with my zojirushi with either the 208 degree or 195 degree presets using the slow drip mode.

Slick deals wants to make a cut on backlinks.
Right, but even without a URL, they have the brand named blocked. Seems weird.

I have the gooseneck kettle, paid much more than this, and love it for Chemex coffee pour overs. It hits 200F in just a few seconds longer than it takes me to weigh and grind my beans. The built in timer is a nice feature as well.

Appears to be 1 L and 1.75 L for the gooseneck and regular kettle respectively.

I don't know about yours, but the initial bit of water that comes out of my zojirushi is not at the set temp. The water is much cooler. When I fill up my oxo gooseneck kettle, the temp reads 130-140ish.

We went from a standard one button kettle to the gooseneck and WE LOVE THE GOOSENECK. Being able to dial an exact temperature is wonderful.

This won't work with a smart switch unfortunately - you need to tap the start/stop button to start boiling, It's a good kettle though - paid $69 from Amazon for the non-gooseneck version a couple months ago and no regrets.
