Most table tops on job site saws are plastic. The gears that are plastic are for the raising or lowering of the blade and angle change, not areas that are particularly under stress.

This table has a r&p fence that is accurate and can be adjusted. Also accepts dado stacks. I was ultimately going to order the DWE7491RS because at only a $30 difference at MSRP it's the better choice. At this price difference I chose the Metabo.
This seems to tick all the boxes in terms of specs. Most important feature for me is the fence and that it's perfectly parallel to the miter slots. Does anyone know if this is the case? Previously returned a table saw with a crappy fence.

Edit: reviews are saying this has plastic gears, a so-so fence and a plastic TABLE! Pass...
I just returned from Lowe's (emergency plumbing repair 🙄).

While i was there I took a close look at this saw. As mentioned previously, a fair bit of play in the fence, and no way to stop it without modifying the saw. Not enough play to cause issues with construction projects, but definitely enough to make a woodworker regret the purchase.

Also same price at acme tools if you really want one. I think at least you can order it from there and lock in the price, unlike Lowes.

None of the Lowe's have it in stock near me and you can't order it online.

I have the Hitachi version that I purchased a few years back on Black Friday for $300. It is an okay saw coming from someone who is an amateur wood worker. I will say there is some play in the fence even when it is locked in place. It is probably only a 1/16 or 1/32 of movement but still enough that it can cause some issues.

It is nice to see that it comes with a better blade than when I purchased it. The 40 tooth blade should be better for cutting that the old 24 tooth blade.

Trying to determine if my current table saw is better than this? Only thing I hate about Dewalt is the 20 inch rip capacity and doesn't take dado stack but not sure about the durability and all that stuff compared to the Metabo.

This is without a doubt the most important thing about a table. I would be prepared to return any saw that doesn't have solid and square fence.

no plastic table. largest rip capacity in job saws, dado, rack and pinion, soft start, largest table as well. It's good saw about on par with dewalts i've had, i've have this one now but had the rest of them too bosch some contractor saws, etc, i put some pluses and minus of each here:

https://slickdeals.net/e/13334701-hitachi-table-saw-c10rj-299-taxes-at-lowes?src=SiteSearchV2_SearchBarV2Algo1

rack and pinion including dewalt i prefer for fast sets and cuts. Things like the bosch one has a decent fence for job saws, better for jigs and pushing panels. Rack and pinion good for getting stuff done. All are not even in the ballpark in comparison to even a used contractor saw but those you're not being mobile and you'll have space in your shop taken by the wing (which can be used for router).

I did also buy a kreg jig I've been wanting and so I got a total of $80 bucks off my total.

I shop at Lowe's often so the 5% cashback this card offers seems worth it to me.

EDIT: the 20% discount is up to $100.
