This monitor has been lower in the past but this price is not bad at the moment.
It's the newer model of the one posted for $405 on amazon and there is also some cashback from certain sites for Newegg. In addition, since this is the business model the warranty will be for 3 years and can be extended depending on which credit card you use. Smilie

I see its only 60hz. Is there any real benefit to freesync for monitors that only run 60hz?

What's the difference between this and 27UL850, which is $100 more? They seem 100% identical. Am I missing something?

They ARE identical. As you've shown with your links, one is the model number sold to businesses and the other to consumers.

The prices on these seem to fluctuate without rhyme or reason, so sometimes the business model is cheaper, etc.

If you run games that have unstable frame rate can cause screen tearing, it will help with that.

However, some Freesync can't support low frame rates so you should verify that. Basically, 4k 120+Hz monitors are expensive so you either trade-off resolution or frame rate (and most cases almost always HDR). It's crazy how monitors are in some ways so far behind TVs.

I ended up with 1080p on 27" myself, but it's Nvidia Certified 144Hz. I love it!

There's one crucial difference: the 27BL85U-W (this one) has a 3-year warranty, while the consumer model appears to be only 1-year.

Even though Amazon had the consumer version for $405 recently, I bought from NewEgg at this price for this reason.

lower frame rates are where VRR has its biggest impact however this isn't a gaming monitor. i'd recommend getting a 1440p 144hz+ monitor if you want to game on it. this is more of a productivity monitor that can game than the other way around IMO.

The LG 27UK850-W monitor on amazon is a good price but it is the older model, and has slightly lesser specs. It is not HDR400 certified, some of the inputs like the display port are a slightly earlier version and it only has one year warranty compared to three. The equivalent consumer monitor is at the following link on Amazon and is ~$530:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product...YH3S&psc=1

The model year for LG monitors is the character before the 850. So the K in K850-W indicates the monitor is one model older then monitors that have L before L850.

You need to be very careful to make sure you buy the monitor off an authorized LG commercial dealer else LG will not honor the 3 year warranty. There are several third party retailers on amazon who are not listed as authorized dealers including the retailer who is currently selling the monitor for $429. The authorized dealers are listed on the monitors product page under the tab "FIND A DEALER"

https://www.lg.com/us/business/de...lg-27BL85U

Newegg, B&W and CDW are some of the listed authorized dealers.

This line of monitors has been out for 2 years under the name 27UK850 (2018 model) and 27UL850 (2019 model). This particular one (27BL85U) seems to be the business-variant of the 2019 model. Plenty of reviews out on youtube for this line of monitors.

I've been keeping an eye out for one of these and pulled the trigger on this deal. Planning to use with my MacBook Pro and later the Xbox Series X.

If you don't need a monitor immediately then it might be worth waiting for Black Friday/Cyber Monday. I could see this monitor dropping to <$400, although maybe not for this particular business variant, which comes with a longer 3-year warranty.

Thanks for the reply. After spending hours researching (was up till 4am Smilie), I did end up ordering this monitor. 5% CB from discover/paypal made the deal a little better.
