FYI this is a store that i know is local to Columbus but no idea of where else you can find it in the US. For those of you that care, I had a wonderful team at Best Buy who price matched it as the local big sandy is within the radius of stores that they price match to. Setting mine up now but GL out there!

C9 48Gbps / CX 40Gbps

C9 12 bit / CX 10 Bit

C9 Full bandwidth on all HDMI ports / CX Full on ONE Hdmi port

C9 is brighter max whites than CX (this is important on OLED which is brightness challenged in general)

C9 has DTS / CX does not

C9 has a 10 bit panel so 48gbps vs 40gbps literally doesn't matter at all and never will. No TVs have 12 bit panels. Brightness difference is very minimal and most say negligible. DTS decoder doesn't matter since everyone uses a receiver anyways and DTS isn't used by any streaming services.

The CX is better. It has a faster processor, better BFI, and it's a year newer model so it will receive support and updates for longer. Most people claiming the C9 is better are just people who own a C9 and are trying to justify their purchase of the older model.

Also, CX has VRR that goes to 120hz while C9 caps at 60hz (VRR). This will matter when it comes to next gen consoles.

That is not true. The C9 has a VRR range from 40-120hz at 4K resolution on HDMI 2.1 according to LG.

The C9 can only display 10 bits, so they're still both 10 bit panels. The slightly lower max brightness hasn't been a factor in any reviews so far. The CX has support for Freesync Premium while the C9 does not. DTS support is rare and at that point you might as well worry about what the receiver can do.

The CX is just more future proof. It's not a bad TV, but if you buy the C9 now when you could have gotten a CX, and you'll be kicking yourself on the PS5 and Xbox Series X.

Store pick up only
Yes, you can go to the store and show them you don't have a big enough car to fit the tv. YMMV, but my store scheduled geeksquad delivery and I had the TV inside my home two days later. Worst case, they will cancel the order.

As for the lack of DTS in the CX, I have a hard time understanding why anyone would own a TV at this price point and not have a dedicated sound system with a receiver that would provide the DTS.
My brother wants a TV around this size but absolutely doesn't want a separate sound system because he thinks they are ugly and he doesn't care about the sound quality beyond a certain point. He has a 55" E8 wall mounted in his bedroom and thinks it sounds good, and frankly I agree adding a sound bar to the wall would be a pita and be ugly,

He's used TVs with great sound before but doesn't care. He may get a 77" OLED but even a sound bar will be an eyesore in his home, a home he just spent over 3 years and $500,000 renovating, doing a lot of the work himself, and it looks amazing (mid century modern design in Tahoe). Not everyone cares about doing much beyond being able to clearly understand the dialog, and that is the #1 most important part of sound in a TV, understanding the dialog.

I'm urging him to listen to the Sony OLEDs with the acoustic surface speakers. Not sure how the C9 and CX compare in the sound department.

Weird, I posted this deal on August 8th and got a bunch of downvotes:
https://slickdeals.net/f/14256779-77-lg-oled77c9pub-hdr-4k-uhd-smart-oled-tv-2019-model-3499-tax

Same deal gets reposted a day later and gets a bunch of upvotes. Go figure Confused

Maybe in wall or in ceiling speakers? Most you can paint the grills to match the wall color.

It's not that important. I think the OLED sound performance is more than enough for his needs. Thanks for the input.
