Amazon has once again dropped the price for their new Fire HD 8 Plus tablet. The price is now 79.99

Added bonus if you trade in a kindle device you get a coupon for an additional 20% off a new kindle in addition to trade in credit. (so for those of us that traded in the last time and the deal ran out, nows the time to use it)

The fire hd 8 2017 version has lineage support.... just not these models as of yet.

But there is something called "XDA AMazon Tool Box" (you need a pc)... this is software that will deactivate "all" of amazon's apps including launcher, alexia, etc... and will help you install google services, netflix, disney, etc... It will essentially leave your tablet very close to stock android. I installed this on my fire HD 10 and noticed a speed bost due to eliminating all the bloatware.
I don't know. He sounds pretty committed to that 65 inch OLED experience...
I guess there are cases you can't bring your 65 inch OLED with you or 65 inch OLED is your go-everywhere buddy?

Can anyone comment on putting LineageOS on the 8 PLUS? Trying to replace the Nexus7 2013 (that replaced the HP Touchpad) so wireless charging is a must. I see lots of success on the 8, but not specifically the 8 plus.

I believe it's actually the 8 Plus that comes equipped with wireless charging ability. Not the 8.

So I can tell you is this: I've owned fire hd 7, 8, and 10. The ONLY good thing I can say is that the 10 has a decent screen.

I wish there was a direct replacement for the Nexus 7: solid system without fluff and inexpensive. The Fire isn't in the same class. Hopefully you can get a different ROM on the wireless, if not, the standard one does have a charging dock available (though I'm not sure if they're still selling the non-wireless dock).

Maybe if you go into the experience expecting an Amazon version of an iPad. For the price, these make fantastic streaming devices to watch content on. I wouldn't use it to browse the internet or dedicate extended time on any apps I can just use my phone or computer for. I will agree that the 7 is just a bad device. The 8 and 10 are excellent streaming tablets

I would add the 10 is more than capable of playing games as well as emulating old consoles. View ETAPrime's review on YouTube for more details. I've owned an iPad and several different Android tablets. There is nothing wrong with the 8, though the 10 has a better GPU. The 7 should be avoided like the black plague.

I'm in the exact same boat. I've got a Nexus 7 and I want an upgrade. As far as I can tell, these fire tablets do not have GPS so they're a no go. I'm not about to spend $300 on a Samsung that has the same capability as this Nexus.

I find the 10 is an ok streaming device but for one problem: I would never watch a movie or show on such a tiny screen when I have a 65 inch OLED handy Smilie
