Could you take off your tin foil hat just long enough to toss out a URL that us commoners can look into to mitigate the risk? TIA.
Supposedly, this iOS app works for turning off the LED light completely...

I have the dimming version and haven't had any problems with it yet. Seems to be a good deal if you want the home to look a little more modern for cheap.

Love these switches. Just wish I could change the light on the switch to be ON when the light is ON and OFF when it is OFF. I get why they have it the other way, so you can find it in the dark. But, I'd rather swap it.

Yes it will. No speed control but it will.

You can CCP "proof" this if you dont want the Chinese Communist Party using this as a backdoor (yes, a switch can be used as a backdoor) and if you're an edgy Redditor, you can NSA proof this as well.

pfSense - that's it. It's not the same as Blue Iris which is a lot safer (VPN and 100% block to the internet for the cams)... more like (1) have your IoT network 100% separate from your computers where you pay bills and what not (2) use MAC address filtering (MAC address filtering isn't 100% secure but its 98% for this purpose) (3) If you dont want your phone compromised where everything (address book, etc) is instantly sent to China then use a VM with Android on it or simply use an old tablet or phone for the initial setup.

If China wants to get it, they will get in similar to how if the NSA wants in, they are getting in. It's not about direct attacks, its about the 99% of data collection and taking significant steps to stop it. It goes way way beyond all of this and there are things a lot deeper than this as well.. it also only takes a single app or device to compromise most everything but you can have your cake and eat it too.. buy these cheap Chinese products that works well with our smart speakers while also cutting out the vast data collection of American civilians.

With that said, I will take 2! lol

So is it true with WiFi smart home devices, because they are all cloud based... if TPLink quits, then your devices quit as well?

Make sure before buying you know if you need 3 way switches or not. And if you don't know what those are, google it. I have a bunch of extra ones because I didn't always buy the right type.

If your light is on and tp link loses connection or something, let's say, your light stays on. It also operates as a normal switch. It does not force commands.
