How do you attach these without "damaging" the item you are attaching it to?

Make small wooden or metal base plates and use small screws to attach to your soon-to-be wheeled object. Create a thread in that piece that accepts the caster.

A little confused about the options here, but would the top plate version accomplish the same thing? Either way, seems like you're drilling into the soon-to-be wheeled object?

With the top plate, your attaching this with 4 screws to the item, with the post your screwing it into an existing threaded hole. If the item is made out of wood, you can drill a hole into item and insert a thread connector to accept the post. The top plate is probably more useful if the item you want to attach these to do not already have the thread for the post. Either way, yes you need to attach these, the screw holes for the top plate will obviously create 4 small holes for the screws, the post type will have 1 big hole.

Yes there is a plate version for sale here, but it still depends on the size of the screws / holes you are ok with. The plate version still requires a pretty big head on the screw. Depending on the material the other object has, you could get away with attaching a finished wood corner with small nails (say it was a melamine coated osb cabinet i.e. "ikea furniture"), and then screw the plate properly into that. The furniture is minimally altered and the process could easily be reversed if you wanted to remove the casters and you would hardly notice the small nail holes on the bottom.

Ahhh, I gotcha, thanks for clearing that up.

Dang, the stem version is $15 now.

EDIT: or always was? The "top plate" version image shows it being a "stem" and does not match the description for me.

I have had great luck with Poly Urethane (PU) glue such as Sumo or Gorilla. Prep is important, sand with 100 grit paper and wipe dry with isopropyl alcohol. Always clamp your work until fully cured. Epoxy may work, but it is often not good at relieving minor working stress/ flexing like the PU glue. .

Ordered the 4 pack top plate for $8, but the picture shows the stem wheels. Hope it works out.

Man... 8% and/or $0.68 cents savings. Should definitely put this perpetually posted sale on Slickdeals for quick commissions. Saved us a public telephone call from the 1990's

Unless I am missing something, CCC says these are normally $12.75? https://urlhasbeenblocked/product/B07RDGMH61
