Can anyone comment if this is superior to the deco m9 that Costco has for $180? The reviews on wifi 6 seem to be mixed whether its really better. I have 200 meg fios would my speeds be quicker with this?

External internet speed will not be made fast by anything that plugs in after the modem/gateway in your residence. The benefits of these is coverage, for example, the WiFi is bad in one room of your house.

M9 is triband non wifi 6. Look at the difference in WiFi 6 and non wifi 6. If you have tons of devices I would think wifi6 would be better.

I understand I won't get faster than the speed I'm being provided. My question is whether I will get closer to full speed with wifi 6 than with wifi 5? I currently have deco m9 (still within return period), I only get about 80 mbps through wifi (my wired speed is 300 mbps) would this unit provide quicker speed throughout the coverage area?

hi guys, I read Costco customer reviews, most of them returned the device after purchase. two major complaints. slow speed and disconnection from the base unit.

I can only speak for my specific situation. I have Spectrum and get about 100 over the Wi-Fi downstairs next to the modem/router, that's what I pay for. I was getting about 6-10 download speed in my upstairs bedroom and it would drop signal a lot.

I installed the cheaper Deco M5 model and now I get a consistent 80 for download and no more dropped signal in the upstairs bedroom. I am currently telecommuting from my upstairs bedroom, so the M5 was a life saver for me.

I bought the Nighthawk from Costco, had to return it. It was awful... wouldn't connect properly at times. And everytime you update the app with some config change, would take a long time.

Then I got the Deco M9 - night and day. My favorite feature is "bedtime feature", and can immediately turn off wifi on demand for device(s). And ethernet backhaul works, no more dead spots!

When testing with a local NAS service, my deco m9 plus gets 400-600mbps (50mb/sec) with wired back haul, and about 300mbps without. I feel that the speed is "as advertised". However, the software/firmware for TP Link is not that good/developed. There's no richer web interface, and the Deco app features are lacking (some are broken) without any indication of them rolling out any new features in the future.
