Update: This offer is available again

Apple iTunes has select Batman Live Action Film Collections (Digital 4K UHD) on sale for $14.99 each. Thanks slickinhb & TheNarratorr [Discuss]

Note, these films are all Movies Anywhere compatible (learn more).

Available options:
  • Batman 4-Film Collection (Digital 4K UHD) $14.99
    • Batman (1989)
    • Batman Returns (1992)
    • Batman Forever (1995)
    • Batman & Robin (1997)
  • The Dark Knight Trilogy (Digital 4K UHD) $14.99
    • Batman Begins (2005)
    • The Dark Knight (2008)
    • The Dark Knight Rises (20012)
Apple iTunes also has Superman Batman 11-Film Set (Digital HD) on sale for $29.99.

Includes:
  • Superman: The Movie
  • Superman: The Movie (Special Edition)
  • Superman II
  • Superman II: The Richard Donner Cut
  • Superman III
  • Superman IV
  • Batman
  • Batman Returns
  • Batman Forever
  • Batman & Robin
Note:
  • For Batman 4-Film Collection & The Dark Knight Trilogy sets, each bundle page lists "HD", once purchased, each title will be in 4K format on iTunes (please verify on a compatible 4K device). This is standard practice for all iTunes movie bundles containing titles that are available individually in 4K on the iTunes platform (all film bundles always list "HD" on the bundle page, even if the included films are in 4K format).
  • Each film will also transfer via Movies Anywhere to other connected services (i.e. VUDU, Amazon, etc.) in "HD" format only, however.

is 4k really that much of a stepup from 1080p?

im just now getting into 1080 as i come from a meager background. 1080p seems sufficient enough without the hassle and cost of upgrading all your media
Not so much the 4k, but the HDR that comes along with it. The color and contrast improvement is what really stands out. In my opinion, you get much more from older movies, that were shot on film, and restored and remastered in 4k. When done right, older movies look better than they ever have before.
With new movies shot on digital cameras, the HDR is really the only noticable difference, from 10 feet away.

Even George Clooney quipped that every time someone watches this movie, he should pay them money. LMAO

Nolan dislikes object based codecs/soundtracks so there is NO AQ benefit.

Tempting, but according to the description Dark Knight Rises doesn't come out until 20012. I can't wait that long.
I had the same thought, but there's also a deal at bed bath & beyond this week for a time machine so I think it's worth it, but as always, YMMV (literally)

So the Dark Knight Trilogy is 4K and MA compatible even though it doesn't say that in iTunes?

I really wish Apple would offer "Complete this Bundle" pro-rated pricing like they do when you own songs on albums or apps in bundles. I have Batman Begins & TDK and it would be awesome to be able to grab TDKR for just $5.

I believe each of these is available for $5.99 on Google in 4K - not iTunes of course but if you are using movies anywhere then it won't matter.

Good deal, but you'll never get the stain of Batman & Robin off of your iTunes account . . .

Everybody wishes that.

But look at songs -- most "good version"s of songs are $1.29 -- choice indeed. Shame on both Apple and Amazon Frown

Nice. For reference, this is
  • Batman (1989)
  • Batman Returns (1992)
  • Batman Forever (1995)
  • Batman & Robin (1997)

Unfortunately, I think the first one is the only one I'd bother to watch now. All of these are on HBO Max, fwiw (though not 4K).. along with lots of Batman animated content and other DC movies.
For the videophiles out there the 4k Batman disc is supposedly one of the finest 4k discs around:

Serious question: I already have these movies in 1080p through iTunes. I don't have Google fiber, my max download is usually 2.5megs/sec if I'm lucky. Will I even be able to enjoy the upgrade of buying these again, or not really?
2.5 megabyte is 20megabits.

I dont think many streaming providers do much higher than that. Netflix for 4k/DV recommends 25 but it really only uses about 16.
