Please note before buying, Kasa imposes a limitation on its software to a max of 3 smart actions per its FAQ.

"Q2: How many Smart Actions can I create?
A: Up to 50 Smart Actions can be created under one Kasa account, but only up to 3 can be enabled at the same time."

Bummer, thought the 3 pack was also 3 way. Still a good price on the 2 pack, might bite. Thanks!

Do I need to have two 3-way smart switches? I guess just replacing one with the smart one would be enough?

I'm ignorant here but will someone explain the difference between the 2 way and 3 way switches?

It's usually single pole, which is just one switch controlling a set of lights or 3 way which is 2 switches controlling the set of lights.

Think of a staircase with a switch at the top and bottom, that's a 3 way.

I'd like to do the same and have seen mixed reviews on that. Some people report no prob, others say the app doesn't register the on/off status correctly.

3-way or single pole: Using it as 3-way or single pole switch to control the light from 1 or 2 locations to replace your traditional 3-way switch. Best for top and bottom of a staircase or from house to garage etc

One of the main reasons I'm getting this is because when the power goes out super late at night, and then comes back on, hue turns on all the lights. I want these units so that when the power resets, it doesn't wake up everyone and the dogs deep into the night.

I just don't understand the point of a 3 way switch if you are going smart. Just use the smart functions.
The wiring is different and requires a 3 way. It seems like you may be able to wire one 3 way instead of two though. Some mixed reviews on doing so.
