BTW, if you have doubts about provinance of Lexivon, don't. They are a sister brand of Sabrent.

Bought one of these last year. Used it three times and it worked great. Went to use it a few weeks later and it quit working. No matter what I tried, it just doesn't work. So they work great....when they work.

Take it to a professional. Your marriage will thank you.

You can try your hand at it, but will need appropriate silver solder and fine grinding and polishing tools.

Not familiar with company, is this a good brand... similar to buying Dewalt OR Milwaukee? Had a harbor freight torch that wouldn't be bad replacing this with.

Anyone know if these are capable of silver soldering? I broke the spinny thing on my wife's flour sifter while trying to "improve" it, and it was an antique handed down to her so I want to repair it without investing in a mapp gas torch If possible.

Depends on your use. If you're soldering wires together, the iron is better. If you're making creme brulee, the torch.

Keep in mind, the selling point to the iron is that it's cordless. That's the only advantage, though it could be a huge one depending on your needs.

Has anyone heard of this brand other than it being pushed on SD?
my only exposure is the numerous staff posts about it.
