assurancewireless gives you a Free Android Phone and I believe there's no limits.
Assurance Wireless only gives you up to 3gb depending on where you live, unlimited text but not unlimited minutes.

Looks like you have to signup to see if you qualify.

How often do you have to re-certify once signed up with these types of services?

Say you are unemployed and get accepted, then go back to work.

I think the government paid for the service so that the people who are in need can get connected. If you go back to work and make money, then you can pay for your cellphone plan. Here is from Assurance Wireless "

Inform us immediately upon learning that you no longer qualify for Lifeline service from Assurance Wireless and we will discontinue your Assurance Wireless Lifeline service. You may continue to use your Assurance Wireless phone and account at the low non-Lifeline rate of 10¢ per minute and 10¢ per text message, as long as you add at least $10 every 45 days or at least $20 every 90 days.

SD must be desperate to allow this "deal" on the FP. Those who on federal aid already know about this. Plus it's only available in a small number of states
It is available in most states.

GOOGLE "TracFone" and others, like Safelink, Assist Wireless. (Are they the same company?)

Some of the companies listed above, allow you to bring your own phone. Then you gamble if the "simm" chip worksPeace

Also there are many different plans, in my state, if you are a native american you qualify
Tracfone is not free.

Tracfone is not free.

SAFELINK WIRELESS® is a program provided by TracFone Wireless, Inc. serving eligible households. PeaceTo participate in the SAFELINK WIRELESS® service, certain eligibility requirements must be met, which are set by each State where the service is provided. These requirements are based on a person's participation in state, Federal support programs, or by meeting the Income Poverty Guidelines as defined by the U.S. Government. SAFELINK WIRELESS® service is limited to one person per household.

https://www.safelinkwireless.com/...#!/aboutUs

TracFone Wireless is the largest "No-Contract" cellular service provider in the U.S. with over 20 million subscribers. It is also a subsidiary of América Móvil S.A.B. de C.V. ('AMX') (BMV: AMX; NYSE: AMX; Nasdaq: AMOV; LATIBEX: XAMXL), the 9th largest phone company in the world, as well as in all of the Americas, with more than 250 million wireless subscribers.

At TracFone Wireless, our formula to success is simple – exclusively focusing on prepaid cell phones and service. Unlike some prepaid providers, we do not require customers to enter into a service contract. Our customers enjoy the freedom we offer – No Bills, No Contracts, No Surprises – they are in control. Prepaid is all we do, and we have over 20 million subscribers because we do it better than anyone else.

We believe that cell phone ownership is not only a right, but also an important tool for individual success in today's world. Everyone should have a cell phone and the ability to know what their cell phone service will cost, without paying more than they want or can afford. At TracFone, we allow our customers to maintain a cell phone for as low as possible, and we never charge extra fees to activate cell service.

I see it in many states,

I guess some people who are recently unemployed because of coronavirus may not know this program.
Try again. Those links show where their respective signals radiate - not where service is allowed.

How is it possible you might ask? The cell carriers are passing this cost into PAYING customers by jacking up below the line fees on service, YES even prepaid will see higher USF and REGULATORY RECOVERY FEES as a result. The fees are in part why I cancelled OOMA VoIP. Every other month, up a few cents...
Then downvote this useless thread. It is targeted to a specific audience

They have verification process every year too.
So only use if you need. Don't be one of those "types".
