Just saw the woot has this 2nd Gen stick up camera for sale. 49.99 is lowest Price seen on this product. This Gen2 version has POE port, which should give you more stable connection

To note, RING has these on sale now too for $85:

https://shop.ring.com/products/st...8041585753

It''s eligible for the 20% student/military/medical discount. So $68 for new if you're eligible for the discount. Still a good deal at $58 shipped though, but I'd prob go for new for +$10.

Oh, and the "Indoor Camera" is $59.99-20%:

https://shop.ring.com/products/mi...ity-camera
completely different item...

I did not see anywhere that the 3rd gen were "Crappier" than 2nd gen.
The ring site is for INDOOR ONLY cams. The post here is INDOOR/OUTDOOR. Big difference.

Ring site also has stick up camera which is gen 3 from this sale. The indoor camera is different. Gen 3 stick up cam view is small than gen 2. This is why people are complaining that is sucks.

Thanks OP! The stick up cams are fantastic. I had one mounted on our dock almost 100' feet from the router to watch baby geese hatch. Unfortunately, the motion is only triggered when something large was right in front of the camera (ex mama goose coming back on the nest), so we missed the little ones jumping down, but when you activated the camera, the picture was fantastic. Ordered 2 more since they are 1/2 of what we paid. Thanks!
Agree! I'm running 4 of these wired. Great deal OP, wish I needed more I'd definitely buy these!

Didnt realize woot sells stuff used. They hide the fact that these are used pretty well. I have to be careful with woot deals from now on.

It doesn't seem that it's really hidden to me and I don't think it's intentionally hidden. I guess it would be clearer if the product name had "Used" in it.

I don't think it's that hidden because there are drop-down menus that are required before you can add the product to cart, and the first drop-down menu is Condition. For this product, there are 4 conditions and all of them start with "Used."

Take care,
Tofu Vic

So from what I have researched the 3rd gen (not these) wired and battery are exactly the same camera
The 2nd gen (ones listed here) wired and battery are two different cameras in that the wired can be plugged in or power over Ethernet and the battery has a smaller view of vision and can be charged with a solar power

Also the wired 2nd gen has 5ghz wireless capability while the battery version only 2ghz

So should I go for wired then?
I really wanted battery Incase power goes out .
I have my modem and router hooked up to a battery backup

Would a used Ring still be covered by the Ring Protect Plus plan should it go bad and need to be replaced? I have a feeling it wouldn't but still curious
Same question, anyone knows?

I wonder the same thing myself. Especially when you can a new one right now for $63.

Edit: I see these are Gen2, which is the same thing as the Ring Elite. So for someone looking for a PoE option this is a great deal. Although now they only have Used Acceptable left.

I have my entire setup "off-grid" just in case power goes out. All cams with battery+solar panel, the Ring alarm base station has its own backup battery and SIM card. My modem and router also hooked up to a UPS.

With Gen 3, its true that both cams are the same. But Ring recently pushed an update that allows customizable zones if your using the "Wired" install. So I wonder if it will let you use those features if it see's a battery.

Does anyone know if these are any good at night, I want one for my backyard area and I was thinking about the floodlight camera, but I could also just buy a motion light and one of these cameras if this will work with limited light at night.

You can just get 3 wyze, eufy or whatever brand cameras for $75 shipped (regular price) if all you want is indoor cams. What makes this a deal is these are outdoor ready and battery is a nice option. I'm guessing the person who said they got two new Stick Ups with an echo dot was talking about indoor only cameras also.
You have to take into consideration the ecosystem. Having 1 APP for all your cameras and security is much easier than having to open up multiple applications on your phone to view cameras. I currently have Ring, Yi, and Schlage, and while it works, its not seamless (though Ring and Schlage do work with each other).

You have to ask yourself if saving $20/camera is worth having multiple apps.
