Most strangers won't be impressed by this. You need a Rolex for that.

Other than watch people, almost nobody knows what a Breitling is.
Most people don't pay attention to your watches, I've worn Oris, Longines, Rolex, Seiko, Grand Seiko, Omega and none of those have received any compliments. My fun watches like my colorful square G-Shocks and fake gold timex get more compliments and those are under $100. I personally wear my watches because I like them and don't care what others think, it's a hobby and people that say they are investments are also wrong because they are not. Rolex is the only brand that you may get close to what you paid for when selling it but that kind of only applies to their sports models.

Either way for a chronometer certified watch like this Breitling Chronomat Colt, I think this is a great price for what you are getting, this is probably the only Breitling I would buy as its, thin, not too large in size, has a 200m water resistance, and not too flashy. The lug width is 22mm which will make the bracelet pretty big but you can swap this and put it on a nato or leather strap and it will look good IMO.

I marvel at the tiny machine on my wrist, the delicate art of all those gears and levers. The careful packaging and artistic flairs on a well-trodden path.

However I also think this particular watch is kinda dull for the money. No transparent back, no complications, timid styling.
Transparent back and complications on a diver tool watch? lol. Who needs to look at a moon phase underwater?

You aren't going to find many Breitling watches with a transparent back, but yes it is rather plane looking.

If you can't explain the bells & whistles of a more premium product, then the more premium product isn't for you. This applies to everything from cars, to yoga mats, and to watches.

If you look at this or any "luxury" watch & only see it as a means of telling time, then stick with your timex (if you even wear a watch) & avoid these threads altogether.

Oh, and FYI - there is a segment of watches that are super premium. Some of them only exist to show off how much money someone has.

One word, f*ckability.
A nice watch can get you halfway to that mattress.

A $2000 watch from a gray-market dealer isn't an heirloom.
That's silly. Heirlooms are what we say they are. My father's nicest watch is a gold Seiko that isn't particularly expensive.

Also, what is it that you think "grey-market" means? Do you think people who have watches from their great grand-fathers have papers for them? For all you know he bought it at a pawn shop.

Grey market watches are simply sold in a region or from a seller that wasn't authorized to sell them. It has nothing to do with the authenticity, value, or collectibility of the watch.

I've spent 4x that on multiple watches. Who the F should I have to justify that to? Screw you and your small thinking.
What is the production cost on this watch? $100 or $200 at most. It seems like you are trying to justify why shouldn't be looked on as a fool. [Especially for someone who has the time to check slickdeals.net]

My wife paid $10,400 for my Datejust and $200 each for two additional links plus tax. I wanted a black face sub. (Don't even go there)
