Printer... "Not inkjet. Not laser." Not worth considering.

Pagewide printers are indeed inkjet. But instead of a printhead that prints back and forth across the page, the printhead is the width of the page and lays down the ink as the paper passes under it. Makes for speedy printing.

I have the last gen Pagewide (X576dw) from a number of years ago, and it's the best inkjet printer I've ever had.

Thanks for the info. I'm sure the inkjet tech is better. I've gone laser and never going back to inkjet. Bad experience with inkjet cartridges that has left a lasting memory.

Closest has been acer nitro 5 ryzen but even that is slightly overpriced (mid tier spec)

Yeah, I saw that one and feel the same. Waiting on a deal. I initially got the IdeaPad 5 from Ms store but it's a lemon. Stopped turning on the display after a week of use. Ms is not doing an exchange, refund only for some reason.

You and I both... not with the print but the cost. For people that don't print all the time, then the ink tends to dry out and you waste even more ink with the head cleaning process. Had an Epson printer that was the worse about that.

That seems to be common with Epson, from their cheap desktop printers to their giant floor-standing wide format units (have had experience with both). Unfortunately, Epson refused to acknowledge their flaws saying we didn't use the printer often enough and refused to fix under warranty, which costs $2500 to repair! (we did not repair, nor will we ever buy Epson again).

Canon, on the other hand, is the opposite in my experience. I have a Canon Pro photo printer that rarely gets used, but when I do, it is 100% reliable and prints flawlessly.

So do your research as not all inkjets are designed the same.

You're sure based on .. ah, unrelated anecdotes. That's reassuring

Sorry but I won't buy Canon again either... camera yes but printers no. The two I've had have been duds. One was an expensive color inkjet (~$600) that died after 15 months and the second was a cheap laser printer (~$130) that flaked out on wifi all the time and parts of it started physically breaking after 12 months. I typically buy HP and Brother now. Might not be true but a lot of them, no matter who makes them, are crap the cheaper they are.

Really, the IdeaPad 5 is a lemon? I was heading to Costco today I've been on the fence between the IdeaPad 5 and the HP envy x360. Both, in 15.6 inch screens.

Thoughts?
