This will share the same fate as the Amazon Fire phone.
Yes same fate but at least they put effort into the Fire phone. This was a half baked product that they spent no time on--as you can tell from the lack of hype or marketing.

I actually think this thing is really well thought out - it's a health assessor, not a watch, and in that regard I think they've done a great job with some really innovative bits (specifically with the mood/tone assessments).

however, the idea that amazon is automatically deleting any private cloud data and isn't monopolizing info into their ecosystem is laughable.

How is it better than fitbit, garmin, apple watch ? Amazon just wants all your money .
Fitbitt charges.40 bucks for.Fitbit coach and 80 bucks forfor.Fitbit premium AND you still.have to buy the watch IN ADDITION.

I will never understand why Amazon doesn't give subscriptions like this for free to Prime members... If you want to sell more and keep people on the service. Charge the $100 and tie the subscription to Prime if people don't have prime then charge the monthly charge.
And to think they get all that data that they can monetize or offer additional upsell services!!

If you rely on a wrist device to tell you what mood you are in you need much more than only this band. LMAOLMAO

I was interested in this band until I figured out it doesn't perform the same functions of the Whoop band. Apparently Whoop has their fitness technology patented. Whoop measures the duration of the heart beat to determine your level of recovery from a previous workout. Important for competitive cardio sports.

I wonder where they got the idea for this from...

Whoop didn't invent the health monitoring bracelet, and I'm confident that the main features Amazon is advertising for Halo are not present in any other device on the market. A bracelet with sensors is hardly something Whoop can claim as their design, and having a meeting or two with Amazon means nothing. Microsoft released two different devices before Whoop even entered the market... Doesn't change the fact that the concept in Halo is a bit creepy...

Tech makers are always quick at pointing out that they met with Amazon, and therefore Amazon must have stolen the idea from them... As if there is something in their product that the labs at Amazon couldn't have developed on their own.

So a smart watch without a watch or screen at all.

Practically how would one use this. Wear this and a watch???

It's a bit a tech that's useless without phone so just a giant bracelet.

Throw in subscription and this makes no sense on sooo many different levels.

I'm unsure how I feel about what Whoop claims to do. Wrist based heart rate monitoring just doesn't work that well and almost everything Whoop does is very dependent on this data. Garbage in garbage out.

Even if I was sold on Whoop, I don't think it's worth $360/year, and I take fitness seriously.

the interesting thing if you watch the launch video is the bands ability to determine your actual mood through your tone. For example: right now you think you sound hilarious but it determines that to others you actually sound ignorant and arrogant. Ha ha

I'd consider it a pretty innovative tool to help assess how I truly sound and engage with friends/family/coworkers and encourage changing behavior where helpful.

I thiught id mention that I bought the Halo and have been wearing it for about a week. The first thing I did was turn off the tone (listening) feature. Mostly because it drains the battery.

The halo is pretty good but falls into better than nothing territory. I like it for tracking my sleep (rem, deep and light all tracked separately) and my steps (calories burned) it does also show my heart rate both live and past rate but I dont use that as often. With a full charge it lasts maybe 4 days and it charges in around 2 hours. If I had an IPhone I would 100% buy an iwatch but I have Android and have accepted this to be good for what it is. Lastly as far as bodyfat% I use a scale every day that takes my bodyfat% from contact points at feet and palms everyday and this is about 4% higher which was a bit soul crushing.
