Anyone seriously considering this should seriously consider the AMD models like the X13.
Can you suggest a link

Anyone have a good article to read on the difference between Intel and AMD for a laptop like this one these days?

Wouldn't be bad if putting Linux on it. I'd like to see this offered w/o Windows garbage and same some $$$ there.
Recall one used to be able to reject Windows TOS and get a check refund for Windows? I didn't personally try that.

Anyone have insight into the next generation of chips? If AMD continues to pull ahead, Intel will have to respond with better tech or lower prices. AMD and Apple might get Intel to get going again.

OP, your post's title needs a lot of work, but I don't see how this is not a front page deal. Latest gen CPU, bright IPS screen, Win 10 Pro and 3-years of warranty at this price and in this form factor is a steal.
I don't know, I wouldn't exactly call this a steal. I got a Dell Inspiron 15 5593 witha Core i5-1035G1, 8GB RAM, and 15" screen for $460 with tax, as per the deal here - https://slickdeals.net/f/14170553-starts-07-08-11am-et-dell-inspiron-15-5000-1080p-i5-1035g1-8gb-ram-256gb-ssd-windows-10-429-99-free-shipping

The key phrase was "in this form factor". At over 4 lbs. and more than 14" long, the Dell Inspiron 15 is in a different class. I'm willing to pay the premium for the portability that the X390 offers.

Bobley, you're showing your age. That hasn't been done since 1999. Wink

Thanks, interesting read.

Does this comparison hold up, though, for something like the thin-and-light Lenovo in this deal? The comparison linked is for gaming laptops, which seem like might be using completely different components.

Here's a comparison with Thinkpad T14s, which is practically the same thing as the X13.

Looks like it also had Thunderbolt 3. Good entry level laptop with TB3 are hard to comeby.
