Hair clippers are something I'd personally advise against skimping on. You can get an Oster Fastfeed for $60-90 and they'll last you much longer than these cheap ones from Wahl.

don't fall for the marketing gimmick that is "self-sharpening".

I agree in terms of durability it will last longer. It's worth noting oster fast feeds cannot be zero gapped without modification to the bracket or swapping of the cutting blade to a ceramic blade.

Wahl offers solid bang for the buck, I'd love a fast feed some day, but the price jump is significant enough that it doesn't make sense for my own home use to be honest. You'd be hard pressed to wear a wahl like this out with typical home use.

The clippers comes with 1mm gap between the cutting blade and plate from the factory. This is to ensure you don't cut yourself. For those that prefer a true Zero skin fade, you can adjust the plate and align the plate with the cutting blade as close as possible to where there is no more gap.

If you're going to do a "bald fade" you're gonna want to zero gap. If not, don't worry about it.

Following the advice from another SD comment, I went with the cordless one from Surker and couldn't be happier. The idea of being tied to a cord just seems so dated when a cordless version with a stronger motor and better cutting system is available for $45 everyday:
https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07ZZYWF3P/

Here was the original advice from BrotherAli
"Easily cordless. I have this one (large 2500mAh battery) and have had 2-3 haircuts and have also trimmed my beard; still has charge (havent recharged). People saying corded have probably never tried a good cordless.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product...UTF8&psc=1 [amazon.com]

Wahl and other name brands are outdated IMO, Surker and Kemei (and probably other chinese companies) are taking over. Look at PremierCuts on youtube, and also search google with whatever model you're interested in and put reddit. Doing that you will see professional barbers who compare these $50 chinese clippers to $150+ Wahl's."

Thanks for passing on the recommendation. Great reviews, I'm going to try these. Except I found the gold colored version is about $4 cheaper: http://amazon.com/Surker-Clippers...B0819D785T

This looks like a rip off wahl. I'm sure it's decent based on the positive amazon reviews. Wahl makes a commercial grade 5 star clipper that's cordless. Looks very similar to the one posted on this deal but without a cord. Considering the price of the surker, I can't imagine the quality can hold up to a commercial grade wahl cordless. Probably won't matter much if it's just for personal use but the cordless 5 star wahls are pretty affordable.
