It's my first post and definitely not sponsored. I think it's a good deal so I figured I'd share it with the community.
Replacement blades are more expensive than the saw. Get two saws!

As I understand it, Gyokucho probably makes them all, but we have been buying the SUIZAN brand from Amazon [amazon.com] for awhile because they have a variety of styles and replacement blades (Ryoba, Dozuki, Kataba, etc.) .... resharpening these has never been favorable for us.

That said, with the free shipping, this price seems reasonable... just make sure the variety of replacement blades that fit this specific handle are available and also reasonable. As an example, here is a reasonably priced longer hardwood blade [amazon.com] for this specific saw handle.

Yes but this is a pull technique rather than push.

See Post #7... blades are cheaper elsewhere, but kind of like batteries, specifically made for brand handles.

No... not really. These Ryoba, Dozuki, Kataba, etc. are made for 'finer' woodworking and typically much smaller. This item's blade that is a pull cut blade, is 210mm, or a little over 8 inches. I would not compare that to "a full sized hand saw."

But... you can buy longer blades and even longer handles. Like all tools, each has their own usefulness and application....

Similar item can be had a HF for ~$10. Just saying...I'm sure this is better quality, but I bought a similar one from HF and it works great for my purposes

I have an Irwin version of this. It's my go to whenever I'm not using powered. I love it.

it works differently than what a Western Saw would. It has 2 sides with different teeth and it cuts on the Pull instead of the Push. So yes i can sub for that with the ability to do some finer work as well. It also is easier on your shoulders/wrist since you are pulling instead of pushing the saw to cut.

Must be a sponsored deal post from SD. There are a lot of other comparable brands available from Amazon around the same price. If you really need a Pull saw - get the Tajima - it is more - but the golden standard for a pull saw < $50. These cut wood like butter - even better than a miter saw - and you never know you will need one.
