Costco has the Klipsch R-12SW Reference Powered Subwoofer for $189.99 after an instant $60 discount.
https://www.costco.com/.product.100526745.html

Free shipping (ordered mine today, to be delivered tomorrow).

9/2 to 9/27 (or until supplies last).

Product details (from the Costco website):

I can't find it really anywhere else (older model? specific to Costco? I don't know).

In my setup this will replace a smaller Polk Audio PSW110 10-Inch Powered Subwoofer that died.

Got this for 229 from best buy years ago. This thing is loud. Sounds great though and is plug and play with my powered bookshelf speakers

I have a few of these (2 front, 1 rear) -- they get a lot of hate, but they work well for movies at a good budget price. You can find better ones if you shop around. A lot of the cost goes to the Klipsch name.

I will say that the R-120SW (which looks almost identical) often goes on sale at BestBuy for about $199-249 and to me sounds much better. It seems to be much "tighter" sounding while the R-12SW is a little boomy.

I started with just the R-120SW (which was plenty) but the extra R-12SW's added some nice "couch rumble"

This one replaced an older KLH Subwoofer which tore after many years.
Prior to ordering the Klipsch, I tried the Sony CORE series subwoofer and was incredibly let down. It's a cheaper sub but had almost no power to it.

Thank you. I just completed the CHEAPEST Klipsch 5.1 system in history. Took me 5 months but I finally did it. (2nd set for living room, already have one for movie theater in basement)

I have 3 now - I could probably have gotten a similar effect with the "subwoofer crawl", but it would have meant throwing it in a spot that wouldn't be ideal to keep there (navigating around it). I went for a 2nd one (R-12SW) when it went on sale last time ($169/$179?) and put one beneath the Front L and Front R speakers. Worked great, but I wanted to get more rumble in the couch so I opted for a 3rd one to put a few inches behind it.

It's overkill and not for everyone, but the overall price for 3 subs was low enough (~$500), let me put them where I wanted them in the room, and let me keep the gain lower than if I just had 1 and was cranking it up

Newbie media room. Went with a Klipsch package deal from Adorama with the R-120SW. Opinions if this is a solid addition to compliment the one I have or just wait for the 120 to go on sale again down the road?

Just grabbed one at Costco. This thing shakes the house after 1/4 gain. Couldn't find any 12" at this pricepoint besides monoprice. Has a green light behind the grill which is kinda tacky to me. Love the performance so far though.

The R-12SW is the older model and the R-120SW is the current model. They have the same specs, but the design is very slightly different.

Pop the grill, cover light with electrical tape, put grill back on.

Really on the fence here. I realize this is a discontinued model. Looking for something for home theater use... reviews are mixed. Can anyone vouch for low end performance? Considering as an alternative to the Dayton Sub-1500.

Everything I can find online says that the difference is the R-120SW has gold colored screws while the R-12SW has black. I bought a couple based on that information.

There are a few slight size differences, but the specs otherwise match on both. To me, it seemed very clear that the R-120SW sounded "better" (overall "tighter" sounding, which I know is hard to describe). I've heard the R-10SW has a tighter sound than the 12SW, but it's also smaller (10" vs 12").

Too bad this subwoofer sucks.

Have bought from Best Buy and returned. Twice.

Granted, I paid more at the time - about 2 years ago. But still, I was NOT impressed. at all.

Sounded like a wet fart. Thought the first one was defective. They were out of stock and I didnt want to wait so just returned it.

Bought another one at a different store a few weeks after that. Same sloppy, wet fart sounding bass.

Got a BIC Accoustech 200 something or other and man - what a difference! Night and day.

EDIT: it is a better sub than the Polk that died in OP.
