I picked up this sub from Frys a year and a half or so ago for approximately this price. If you go in with realistic expectations (i.e. understand that this is nothing like a SVS or Monolith, etc.), this sub is decent for what it is. Good amount of power but doesn't get particularly low.

PSA: anytime you see an Adorama post, know that it is basically a scam. They pay SD for frontpage listings. Any SDer worth their salt would know that this "deal" is a joke in a world where Dayton and Monoprice exist.

Blanket statements help nobody. While most Adorama deals may be shilly, they're not all bad. Getting my iFi Micro iDSD Black Label for less than what they go for used a few years ago is a prime example.

I don't know much about audio equipment. How is this deal a joke compared to the Dayton Sub-1000 10in that is 100 watt for$120. Similar price..but 3x the power.

I can understand that there are different internals that can make the bass sound crisper, louder etc but how, in this case, is this deal a joke? As in, how can a 300 watt subwoofer by a reputable brand be that much worse than the dayton sub 1000 for bassicaly the same price?

Thanks for help!

edit: 150 watt rms for j10 and 100 watt rms for dayton. I see now they are closer. but still, is a 50% increase in continuous power not a good improvement?

Most people spending 100-300 dollars on a subwoofer chose to individually build their home theater versus buy a home theater in a box from a store because they care about audio quality. That said a subwoofer is meant to deliver the lows -- and that to many people who want to replicate a movie theater experience (now more than ever since who knows when they'll reopen) should care for quality (frequency response) over quantity (cont. watt output).
