Which is better? This or the Xiaomi Band 5?

My 8yr wants one of this for his bday, apparently this is a thing among his friends. Is this a good watch or is there a better option you would recommend for a kid?
I have both - Samsung Galaxy Fit & Xiaomi Mi Band 5. Mi has little bigger screen and far better battery life whereas Samsung Galaxy Fit looks much much better on the wrist. Both of them support continuous HR monitoring & REM sleep tracking. If you like to track your calorie intake, then only the Samsung Health app supports this. You'd be amazed by the wide variety of foods (incl. international cuisine) and their nutrition facts in the Samsung Health App. Mi Band 5 tracks calories burned but I couldn't find an option to add calorie intake. And, of course, Mi Band 5 is far cheaper and it is easy to get replacement straps for cheap compared to Galaxy Fit.

If it doesn't brick every time there's a firmware update like the three Versas in my family, then I'd say it compares favorably.
I'll start away from their smart watches too. Mines a brick after the last update. In continue to get a boot loop. Sold it on swappa for $20.

Buy one of the cheap ones off Amazon. I found one on sale for around $15. Returned it because I didn't care for having something on my wrist all the time, but don't see that this Samsung does anything different than it did.

Any particular brand that you tried and liked? There seem to be too many knock off options on Amazon.

Open box excellent wasn't available by me so I got the satisfactory. Hopefully the condition isn't too bad.
I ordered a satisfactory one as well. Hope it comes with the special charger for this band!

I owned and used a inspire HR for six months, it was horribly inaccurate.

I can't speak for the Samsung, but I've had the Mi Band 5 for over a month now. For what I want it to do (track steps, heart rate, and sleep), it does a fine job. As for accuracy of the tracking, I can't tell you how accurate it is, but I am looking more at trends of how I am doing. I set my steps goal at 7,500. If it am close to the goal, I don't sweat it. If I am at 3,000, then I know I need to get up and do something. I also have the data synced to Google Fit. Using Google Fit is better at looking at the trends, but the finer details are only in the Mi Fit app.

Notifications work well, just have to be within bluetooth range. Went swimming multiple times with it on and so far no problems. I have heart rate and sleep tracking on, so my battery life is about 10 days (10% a day) before a charge is needed. When I turned off sleep tracking and heart rate to once an hour, it extended the battery life to about 13 days.

The Mi Band 5 has different watch faces you can change to and different bands can be purchased. I have one my 9 year old daughter as well. An unexpected benefit of the band is that she can set her own timer. Kids will always negotiate for more play time and we always forget and they will get more play time that negotiated for. We tell her she can play for 15 minutes before going back to doing her homework or before going to take a shower. or when going back inside from doing an outdoor activity. She sets it on the band, and we don't have to remind her.

I risked with "fair", applied two coupons I had from BB CC for $15 and getting it for $10 Smilie
Just in time, my active one is in a boot loop and out of warranty. Will see.
