Doesn't look like these will fit in overhead bins going wheels first.

Any way to protect the zipper? The last time I took a flight when I got to the luggage pickup I think somebody had used a pen to pop open my bag and a few things were missing, how would I protect myself from this?
Not for free. You can pay to wrap your luggage at the airport.

If anyone ordered 2, check ur orders. I did and got 2 confirmation emails, but both with same order number. Got charged on my credit card twice though. But only received one. Sent an email to customer service, will update when I hear back.

Any expensive item, money, passport etc can be placed inside a zippered small "pencil bag" available at Walmart. It is sturdy and large enough to hold all of this. Besides it has a seen on steel ring at one end. Close the zipper, place a lock and keep in the carry on. The TSA people will never open your bag without your consent or you being present close to the bag. Avoid keeling any valuable in the checked in bag. Even if it is a non zippered bag, you cannot lock it.

You can lock it with a TSA lock. If you use a regular lock they'll just break it if they need.

Ordered one just in time.
I hope the size works. I don't want big as that usually ends up overweight.

More than one person told me that TSA simply cut off their TSA compliant lock.

This size is very good for not getting over the weight limit.
Still, you have to watch it; packing several books or other items with high weight to volume ratio will cause the luggage to be too heavy.

These aren't even close to overhead size.

for those wondering about carry on size

Carry-on luggage size: 22'' x 14'' x 9" max size

This is too big
Those measurements include wheels and handle. Non-U.S. airline sizes may vary, so check all connections.

There are weight restrictions for some airlines as well, but those are rarely checked unless your bag looks stuffed or you struggle to get it in the overhead.

I got this from the last time I saw this deal and love it. Very lightweight and so far very solid. I think I've taken 5 flights with it. 6th is tomorrow morning. Well worth it.
So this is standard Carry on size in terms of dimensions?

Well, several European airlines check the weight of the carry-on for everyone, usually limited to 8kg, Some of them set the weight of carry-on plus underseat bag at the total of 12kg.
Yes, they check that universally. I have seen more than a couple of passengers turned away because of that.
I usually see that at luggage drop-off, but experienced it in the waiting area where an airline employee was walking around with a hand held scale. Also, some of those luggage size cages now have weight scales built into them.
