F. There are a variety of other free PDF convertors available on the net.
Can you recommend any?

Does not work offline--uploads your files to a cloud for the conversion--super unsafe.

Other reputable and free local (no internet access required) pdf printers would be cutepdf and primopdf. Both have been around for more than 10 years
I think this tool is meant to do the reverse: takes a pdf and converts to Word or image.

Free.... openoffice.org .... I don't know why anyone would use microsoft products when openoffice does it all for free....and uses less space and memory and more features that I use.

A. This app is free or nearly free all the time.
B. It is not a Microsoft program. Rather it is by an outfit named "Roxy".
C. Good luck finding any valid reviews on this app.
D. Your information gets sent through the internet to a server for conversion. Conversion does not occur locally on your PC.
E. It does not work if:
- The PDF file was created by a scanner (or contains images only)
- The PDF has security restrictions (password / edit restrictions)
- The PDF is a form
F. There are a variety of other free PDF convertors available on the net.

Open Office can't do everything that Microsoft can. Shortcuts are off, a simple highlight drag to other cell in Excel doesn't work for one.

The reason why PDF can have exactly the same format everywhere, is that PDF does not contain structured document information (things like: paragraph 1, text foo, paragraph 2, text bar). Instead, it contains instructions to printers (e.g. at position (a, b), write a character x; at position (c, d), write a character y). So, what I'm trying to say is: there will never be a perfect convert tool because there's no "sentence" nor "paragraph" in a PDF, and every conversion tool makes a lot of guess to make it work.

Not sure if this is useful, but just in case you find the conversion tool doesn't work with your PDF. It would never be perfect.
