Shouldn't they be restricting this because of the benadryl challenge instead of making it cheaper and more accessible?

Cheaper than dirt, check. Mildly helpful for allergies, check. Possible link to dementia, check. Restless night sleep where you feel foggy the whole next AM check. Part of another viral trend that dumb teens bord in covid school lockdown that will end up with someone deal, check. Killer deal.

There have been many studies done that show that Benadryl helps aid the brain in developing diseases like alzheimer's and dementia.

Loratidine doesn't work that effectively for lot of people. Second, Bendarly works fastest but stays in your system for few hours only compared to Cetrizine, Allegra.

My doc suggested to take benadryl for food allergy (non anaphylaxis reaction) as it works fastest.

Yup that's what I've always done with food allergies. Take Benadryl, then off to the hospital.

True. I think for non-emergent scenarios it's best avoided due to the side effect profile.
