Edge grain might as well be just a slab of wood - end grain is the easiest on your knives. Here's one at Sam's that is a little smaller but also cheaper

Expensive for edge grain. If your going to spend over $70 for a cutting board, get end grain and get one that's around 2" thick to help prevent splits.

There's a thorough review here on CI https://www.cooksillustrated.com/...ing-boards and here it seems that the end/edge effect on sharpness may be overstated if not incorrect. http://knifegrinders.com.au/SET/C...KdIzD3YlS-

Boos makes some of the best cutting boards out there and well worth the price, personally I prefer the 2.25" thick boards.

They are made in my home town. If you live near southern Illinois, you can visit their showroom and get massive discounts too

I came for help...

I just got a cutting board it's about a .75 in thick... It was from Ideas by Design.

Is it normal for cutting boards to have splinters at first?? I washed this one off and it was super smooth but after washing it wasn't ... I could feel wood coming off.. I oiled it but I suppose I was supposed to do that first.

Any help would be appreciated... It really is beautiful looking...

I'm sure it was a promotional type product... I have no idea what would it is some light and some dark.

Put bees wax on it after lightly sanding it with a super fine grit and rinsing off.

Not normal, sounds like you should be contacting the company and trying to get your money back

I paid very little for it so if I can't get it to work I will use it for something else.
