How is a movie made in 1995 in 4K. Did they remake it to be in 4k resolution ?

If you are signed up for Microsoft Rewards, you get 2500 points if you buy three of the movies. BTW, this deal for rewards points is available every month.

High quality 35mm film at ISO 100 is about the equivalent of 20 Megapixels. 4K is about 8 Megapixel.

I don't know much about movie film formats and what ISO or general quality of film was used for animation like this but I'd guess it's still well above 4K.

Whether animation will benefit from a 4K scan vs a 1080 scan is a good question. I'm guessing HDR would be more impactful than the resolution.

They aren't a one to one correlation, but film is generally about 6k resolution so anything made before digital cameras were standard in the film industry can be scanned in 4k (or more) and look fantastic. This version also has reworked graphics.

Thanks

I also had Akira. But I liked Ghost better. I will admit though I watched with engrish dubs on, as my Japanese is terrible.

Most devices that can use the Plex app can stream through Vudu, Netflix, Prime, etc.

I just bought the 4K UHD Blu-ray of GITS and the disc has all languages.

I wonder if that's why it isn't MA compatible, or if it just won't be. Good price, but I'm not interested in buying a movie I can essentially only play on Windows. Frankly, I don't even buy Google Play movies, and I'm heavily invested in the Android ecosystem, and at least those are available to watch on YouTube.
Agree. Thankful it's out for a good price but bit useless if it's not MA.

It's not MA and it won't be because it's Lionsgate, and until they pull their heads out of their you-know-where nothing Lionsgate has been or will ever be MA >.<

Debating just getting this or getting the 4k Steelbook from Best Buy *drums her fingers* blahhhh *wastes money because* lol
I got the Steelbook the slip cover with it looks awesome. That being said this is only $5.

Does the Japanese audio one have English subs? The page lists CC, but some things don't count language translations as CC.

Your laser disc player with OLD PIONEER logo still works? Or is it Panasonic?

I'm 112, have the original Star wars trilogy on laser disc (non-lucasified), but don't have a working player. Have to make due w/ the despec versions to get my fix.

Yay! I'm looking forward to it getting here even more now! It looked really neat from the pictures, and steelbooks with good art are a total weakness for me =O I definitely wasn't trying to say THIS isn't a good deal: it's a GREAT deal! More that I couldn't resist the temptation to get the steelbook instead lol (and, you know, my eternal frustration with Lionsgate not joining Movies Anywhere)
