It seems that Amazon is expanding it's Amazon Wireless Plans Subscription platform and has now launched it's third brand under Tracfone (previously launched Simple Mobile & Cricket). Amazon Wireless Plans for Prime Members are very similar to brands own plans but with extra incentives/savings for Prime Members.

Amazon Wireless Plans [amazon.com]

On a high level, this plan is $20 All-In including Taxes & Fees ($2 savings in my state) and I get 10% cash back every month (another $2 savings). I tried to buy 2 but it seems to be limited to 1 per Prime Account.

$20 ALL IN PRICE ($15 for Month 1)
-$5 OFF First Month
-$2 Tax Savings
-$2 10% Cash Back every month
-$1 5% provided by Amazon Credit Card
= $17-$18 Final Price (if you add up all the savings)

In comparison, on Tracfone.com you pay $20 + Taxes & Fees.

Benefits
- Unlimited Talk, Text, 1GB Data
- Carrier Choice (ATT/VERIZON/TMO Compatible SIMs)
- Limited to one per accounts
- No Contract, Credit Checks, Keep your Phone, Keep your Phone Number
- Amazon Customer service and billing vs having to deal with Tracfone

Q&A
- Can I switch if I already have Tracfone? A: Yes, as a Tracfone customer you may switch to this Amazon Wireless Plan, Keep Your Number, and enjoy these great benefits. Just purchase this new Plan (SIM included), activate the new SIM, then swap the SIM in your current phone.
- What SIM do I need if I already have a Tracfone device? A: Most Tracfone devices are CDMA based so you must purchase a CDMA Compatible SIM.
- What happens if I run out of data, is it throttled or capped? A: 1GB of Data is capped however you can always buy additional data for $10 for every additional 1GB. You may purchase this item for additional data http://www.amazon.com/dp/B01HKAO6C0
- Can I switch to a $25 or $30 plan? A: At this time no, only the $20 1GB is available.
- Can I add more than one line? A: At this time no, only 1 plan per Prime Account is available.

Only for Prime members. Another greedy attempt to get more Prime subs. No thanks.
Or a reason to possibly become a Prime Member for Free. For example I have the Simple Mobile Plan which provides $5 Credit Back per Month ($60/year) and I have the Amazon Student Prime Membership so technically my membership is free since I was paying Simple Mobile for the same service. Instead now I get credit back which "covers" Prime. For regular Prime Membership look at it as it covering 50% off.

I was looking at the Cricket $55 unlimited plan (the only option listed). It's a little confusing to me to figure out the final cost after all the so-called perks. Will it be less than 55 or is 55 the price after all perks? TIA!

Tello 1gb plan is way cheaper than this, $10-11 a month with taxes and fees. I think ultra or mint also has a 1gb plan for similar too
You can get redpocket with verizion coverage from their ebay store for $14/mo when you buy a year at a time. And redpocket has decently priced higher data options unlike tracfone.

But tracfone does have some cheap locked phones and in general their service is a little less buggy, for example the visual voicemail with redpocket breaks from time to time and I have to call them to get it fixed. Both tracfone and redpocket have more service hiccups than actual verison and have bad customer service, but for the price I'm willing to put up with it.

Basically it is an "Amazon Credit/Gift Card" deposited every month to your account which you can use to purchase anything you want on Amazon or let it stack up to be used all at once.

Tracfone website does not have an auto-pay discount - that discount only applies for the first 2 months on the TF site - not on going. Amazon matches that on Month 1 and then from then on you get the ongoing benefits. So after month 2, you already benefit from being on the Amazon side.
> Tracfone website does not have an auto-pay discount

I see this Tracfone blog post from last summer:

1. You are paying monthly and not $180 all at once. So in that case, yup, Mint is the better choice since you are paying all at once.
2. Here you can choose ATT/VZN and not TMO only. Depending on where you live TMO may not be the best.

So not really apples to apples, you will have to see how it caters best to you personally.

I see this Tracfone blog post from last summer:

* Auto-Refill pricing applies only for the first two months, then regular price.

Disclaimers on the Unlimited Plans. * Auto-Refill pricing applies only for the first two months, then regular price.

Not equivalent at all: Tello AFAIK only supports the Sprint CDMA network, so you 1) need a compatible phone, and 2) are stuck with Sprint network coverage.

Whereas Tracfone lets you bring pretty much any phone & choose your underlying carrier (VZW, AT&T, Tmo)

Also Boost has a $10 plan with 1gb data. The only advantage to the Amazon plan is that the data rolls over if you don't use it all. Otherwise why pay double what you would pay at Tello or Boost?

There should be an option for $5 Coupon on the product detail page. Make sure you clip the coupon.
