It seems that Amazon is expanding it's Amazon Wireless Plans Subscription platform and has now launched it's third brand under Tracfone (previously launched Simple Mobile & Cricket). Amazon Wireless Plans for Prime Members are very similar to brands own plans but with extra incentives/savings for Prime Members.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08F2Y4PTR

Amazon Wireless Plans [amazon.com]

On a high level, this plan is $20 All-In including Taxes & Fees ($2 savings in my state) and I get 10% cash back every month (another $2 savings). I tried to buy 2 but it seems to be limited to 1 per Prime Account.

$20 ALL IN PRICE ($15 for Month 1)
-$5 OFF First Month
-$2 Tax Savings
-$2 10% Cash Back every month
-$1 5% provided by Amazon Credit Card
= $17-$18 Final Price (if you add up all the savings)

In comparison, on Tracfone.com you pay $20 + Taxes & Fees.

Benefits
- Unlimited Talk, Text, 1GB Data
- Carrier Choice (ATT/VERIZON/TMO Compatible SIMs)
- Limited to one per accounts
- No Contract, Credit Checks, Keep your Phone, Keep your Phone Number
- Amazon Customer service and billing vs having to deal with Tracfone

Q&A
- Can I switch if I already have Tracfone? A: Yes, as a Tracfone customer you may switch to this Amazon Wireless Plan, Keep Your Number, and enjoy these great benefits. Just purchase this new Plan (SIM included), activate the new SIM, then swap the SIM in your current phone.
- What SIM do I need if I already have a Tracfone device? A: Most Tracfone devices are CDMA based so you must purchase a CDMA Compatible SIM.
- What happens if I run out of data, is it throttled or capped? A: 1GB of Data is capped however you can always buy additional data for $10 for every additional 1GB. You may purchase this item for additional data http://www.amazon.com/dp/B01HKAO6C0
- Can I switch to a $25 or $30 plan? A: At this time no, only the $20 1GB is available.
- Can I add more than one line? A: At this time no, only 1 plan per Prime Account is available.

How is this a deal? Tello 1gb plan is way cheaper than this, $10-11 a month with taxes and fees. I think ultra or mint also has a 1gb plan for similar too
You can't compare Tracfone to Mint or Tello, because a lot of folks choose Tracfone for its unlimited carryover. Nobody else has unlimited carryover. Tracfone is the only brand in America to have unlimited carryover. And that's compared to all MVNOs, and all proper telecom companies (VZW, AT&T, etc).

I dont think people should be comparing plans from T-Mobile and Sprint here or other similar threads because Verizon is usually a little more expensive. This would also aid those who are using tracfone locked phones from deals here. And you get better CS with Amazon. Just my two cents.

Im a mint 8gb plan user but i get that verizon plans cost more. That said, requiring prime is unnecessary imo and i dont like that trend of locking deals behind prime from a consumer standpoint. I have prime but i don't think things should head that way. they do that with woot sellout too
Okay, disregard my previous post here. Look at the 15 dollar us mobile plan mentioned above.

https://www.usmobile.com/plans

Looks to be the new standard for that price tier of that amount of data and unl. talk and text that works with verizon

for higher usage i still like visibles party pay

red pocket still works if you're relying on google voice and 500mb a month, other plans are about the same as visible because of the sales tax being charged on ebay now (8% here, yikes). someone also mentioned the freedompop 1gb thing for att network of 40 a year.

I just buy Tracfone 1 year cards with 3gb data and 1500 texts when they are really cheap on eBay and occasionally top up texts ($5 for 1000) and data ($10 1gb) a few times a year. It pencils out to about $7 to $8 per month. I have all I need for that price, but I do most of the data hogging stuff at home via my normal internet service.

Here's some alternative under $20 not requiring prime or other cashback gimmick.

1. On Verizon : US Mobile. $15 pm + taxes and fees should be under $20 with 2.5gb pm on Verizon.
do you still get throttled 2g data after 2.5gb lte used

Also Boost has a $10 plan with 1gb data. The only advantage to the Amazon plan is that the data rolls over if you don't use it all. Otherwise why pay double what you would pay at Tello or Boost?

It's Sprint and Sprint has it's limitations in some areas. I've had the Free Sprint for a few years and so many dropped calls and calls not coming in. Glad to be on Tracfone (Verizon) but I'm paying for minutes/texts used as I go and so much cheaper if you use Google Voice and your at home or have internet available. I loaded 2 cards and had 2400 minutes/text and still over 2200 minutes left--loaded 2 cards and started using phone in July after my FREE Sprint expired. I purchased a S9+ cheap at Total Wireless and activated it on Tracfone and it will be able to be unlocked the end of Nov. (was activated in Nov of 2019 but not used).
The minutes that were used on this plan were from another google number being forwarded in and I didn't realize it wasn't going through google. I had 2 google numbers coming into the phone and only 1 used the google voice the other one forwarded in so it used the regular minutes. Oh well not a big deal. Eventually I'll move over to the unlimited minutes but for now this is pretty cheap. I purchased the 3GB 1200 minute cards for around $40 so it is definitely cheaper then the $15 a month. Google Voice has a lot of benefits but has some drawbacks also.

The aforementioned net10 ebay plan

https://slickdeals.net/f/14299931-net10-annual-prepaid-phone-plan-unlimited-talk-text-w-1gb-data-mon...

Its back to 169 now, which works out to 14.08 a month with no other fees....except Ebay charges sales tax on everything so yeah an extra 8%, making it about 15.25 a month for me

But its still an okay option. At 127 it was a great deal.

It sounds like the usmobile one will come out to be about 19 dollars a month for me after fees.

For RP, I have heard all plans above 1gb or 2gb have unlimited 2G speed. I am not sure about Net10 and US mobile for unlimited 2G. You can talk to their chat and get your answers in couple of minutes. They are pretty fast in responding.

Both Net10 and RP along with Boom mobile have annual plans of 5gb pm at $240 something. If your usage is under 2gb a month and want to pay monthly instead of annual upfront, US mobile could be decent alternative.

I would prefer anything other than Visible for my main line until Verizon goes full 4G only. But yea, visible is decent option for high data usage, provided it works.

trying the chat now, will get back after

edit: "2.5 GB is the total hard cap of the internet" per chat rep

still a good price for the amount of data you get, but a shame its not throttled 2g and a hard cap. the hard cap makes it go from a no brainer of a plan to, "yeah i should think about red pocket first"

the net10 ebay one has unlimited 2g

Basically I want to switch my mother over to Verizon, but her phone wont be compatible with Visible because they have a restrictive list of phones from before 2019. US Mobile would put her around 19 dollars after fees. Red Pocket is 20, might as well go with that and see if I can get the sales tax refunded. Net10 wont be enough for her most likely (the 1gb + throttled 170 one)

wonder if you can keep buying those over and over to get the 15 dollar price for 5gb and keep your same phone number, or if its a new customer only thing. fees made it about 50 for me.

main thing would be keeping the phone number, which wouldnt bother me as a google voice user, but yeah different story for my mother

that pricing is a real winner right there for 5gb and you could combo it with the other target promos
