It seems that Amazon is expanding it's Amazon Wireless Plans Subscription platform and has now launched it's third brand under Tracfone (previously launched Simple Mobile & Cricket). Amazon Wireless Plans for Prime Members are very similar to brands own plans but with extra incentives/savings for Prime Members.

Amazon Wireless Plans [amazon.com]

On a high level, this plan is $20 All-In including Taxes & Fees ($2 savings in my state) and I get 10% cash back every month (another $2 savings). I tried to buy 2 but it seems to be limited to 1 per Prime Account.

$20 ALL IN PRICE ($15 for Month 1)
-$5 OFF First Month
-$2 Tax Savings
-$2 10% Cash Back every month
-$1 5% provided by Amazon Credit Card
= $17-$18 Final Price (if you add up all the savings)

In comparison, on Tracfone.com you pay $20 + Taxes & Fees.

Benefits
- Unlimited Talk, Text, 1GB Data
- Carrier Choice (ATT/VERIZON/TMO Compatible SIMs)
- Limited to one per accounts
- No Contract, Credit Checks, Keep your Phone, Keep your Phone Number
- Amazon Customer service and billing vs having to deal with Tracfone

Q&A
- Can I switch if I already have Tracfone? A: Yes, as a Tracfone customer you may switch to this Amazon Wireless Plan, Keep Your Number, and enjoy these great benefits. Just purchase this new Plan (SIM included), activate the new SIM, then swap the SIM in your current phone.
- What SIM do I need if I already have a Tracfone device? A: Most Tracfone devices are CDMA based so you must purchase a CDMA Compatible SIM.
- What happens if I run out of data, is it throttled or capped? A: 1GB of Data is capped however you can always buy additional data for $10 for every additional 1GB. You may purchase this item for additional data http://www.amazon.com/dp/B01HKAO6C0
- Can I switch to a $25 or $30 plan? A: At this time no, only the $20 1GB is available.
- Can I add more than one line? A: At this time no, only 1 plan per Prime Account is available.

Something new:

https://www.target.com/p/red-pock...A-79396716 [target.com]

wonder if you can keep buying those over and over to get the 15 dollar price for 5gb and keep your same phone number, or if its a new customer only thing. fees made it about 50 for me.

main thing would be keeping the phone number, which wouldnt bother me as a google voice user, but yeah different story for my mother

that pricing is a real winner right there for 5gb and you could combo it with the other target promos

trying the chat now, will get back after

edit: "2.5 GB is the total hard cap of the internet" per chat rep

still a good price for the amount of data you get, but a shame its not throttled 2g and a hard cap. the hard cap makes it go from a no brainer of a plan to, "yeah i should think about red pocket first"

the net10 ebay one has unlimited 2g

Basically I want to switch my mother over to Verizon, but her phone wont be compatible with Visible because they have a restrictive list of phones from before 2019. US Mobile would put her around 19 dollars after fees. Red Pocket is 20, might as well go with that and see if I can get the sales tax refunded. Net10 wont be enough for her most likely (the 1gb + throttled 170 one)
Net10 and Boom have Verizon for 5gb pm at $240 for 1 year.

And I am using that Red pocket 3 months sim from roughly 20 days. I got from Target and it was GSMA kit (only 1 sim). For ATT or it's mvno, you may not get VOLTE and Wifi calling. Verizon only offers VOLTE but not Wifi calling for its mvno.

My review for RP, it's fcked up. I have unlocked phone and volte works fine with Visible/Tmobile but not with GSMA. I have been complaining from first day and they have been stalling me with different sh!t. They sent replacement sim card as well but it didn't work. They refused to refund as I have used my service. Yea, I would have used the service if you have been trying different experiments every day for 2 weeks. I ended up complaining them on facebook and after few more days of experiments, they have stopped responding me. LOL. I have complaint to FCC and FTC. i would never get RP even again, even if they pay me to use the service.

Well that's a real horror story, sorry to hear that. I was considering trying the unlimited verizon plan for a month on their site, they have all plans 10 dollars for labor day. has auto renew though so i'll need to turn that off.

In regards to GSMA, I'm curious about that 1gb 40 bucks data plan from freedompop on amazon and using google voice linked to it and buying one of those every year, just as a backup phone to have... (not giving fpop my CC or anything)

redpocket has no hotspot with android devices on verizon?

https://www.reddit.com/r/redpocke...a_android/ [reddit.com]
https://help.redpocket.com/hc/en-...ket-plans- [redpocket.com]

no iphones in this household sadly
Hotspot works on ATT based service but due to lack of VOLTE, I cannot make more than half of calls. 3G network ain't that great here. Issue is from ATT side but RP is not willing to help. I asked them if they could move my services to Verizon based and those MOFO never replied. Duck, the support ghosted me. "We will call you back in 24 to 48 hours". Call back my xxx.

Oh, did I tell you it took me over 5-10 hours to get the service started and I was with CS for 4-5 hrs atleast because 10 minutes wait time actually meant 30-40 min.

For data, FP should be fine with those $40 plan. I am guessing 1gb will be enough to make few thousand calls a month. It's available from BB and Target as well.

yeah i was reading about the volte issues on att with redpocket too before you mentioned that horror story...some think its a problem with ATT not whitelisting a lot of the BYOD.

my factory unlocked moto e6 gets volte on att but only because its one of the few select devices on this list. the lack of wifi calling on att is really bad.

https://www.att.com/ecms/dam/att/...etwork.pdf (says updated march 2020 btw)

of course my crappy att branded moto e5 play from best buy for 30 bucks last year gets both volte and wifi calling, just volte for the e6

what model was your phone

What is the cheapest or the most customizable plan with minimum mins, texts and data (even 200 or 500mb a month would do) available on gsm networks that you know of?

maybe the red pocket annual ebay with 100/100/500mb? 5 dollars a month/60 total before ebay charges sales tax

or the freedompop 40 dollar 1gb data thing from amazon paired with google voice (dont give fp your personal/cc info)

I am not able to check that link due to SD redirection but my phone was on the list for HD calling and Wifi calling. It's Samsung Note 9 US version. Issue is from ATT but man, support from RP have been way poor. Just simply ghost a paying user? Who the hell does that? They should clarify on the website it may or may not be available on certain handsets just like Tracfone. They have no whitelist or blacklist and would not provider advertised service and then say FU, you are no longer in refund period.

Looking for a cell for my senior mom. Just to have in case.
Would Boost or Telo be good for her?
TIA
This is a good in case phone [ebay.com]. It comes with a year of tracfone service which includes 1500 minutes, 1500 texts and 1500MB of data per year for $50. It was just on sale for $40 a couple of weeks ago.

how does this compare to the $15/month at mint mobile? I'd rather pay for the year upfront for $15/month
mint added an extra ~$3/month in fees for me this year, so it wasn't quite 15/month
