Any opinion on the Dell 27" and this Samsung curved 27". Both come out to around the same price with some discounts. Looking one for work.

No, this would be just a couple day. Also, I've been monitoring the Alienware desktops (R10/R11) and there was much better discount before. I also don't see these to be upgraded with 30x0 anytime soon.

27" 1080P isn't a deal.

Also, doesn't apply to everything. The 27, 2.5k for $239 doesn't work with the coupon

Prices are jacked up and coupon doesn't work on all.

Looks like both have the same inputs, but the Dell is at 75hz and is IPS. The Dell is also 300nits vs 250nits on the Samsung. While 250nits is usually going to be enough, if you have extra light in the room sometimes, that 300nits will be useful.

The Samsung page doesn't list the panel type, but I'm pretty sure they only use VA - which my personal opinion is not as good as IPS.

In summary, I'd opt for the Dell based on specs alone - HOWEVER, the Samsung is VESA mountable while the Dell is not. This is the one make-or-break feature you'd have to decide on IMO.

Thanks for posting. Was able to get the new XPS 17 in with 8 cores, updated graphics card and UHD screen for a little over $2300. Based on what dell rep was offering me, I saved over $400 compared to the current prices I found online. On top of that, Chase is offering an additional 5% back on dell purchases.

I did exactly this; was eyeing a XPS17 for a few weeks; this make me pull the trigger (cheapest I've seen it lately). Was in a lot of debate on waiting for some update to ryzen (or at least 11th gen intel) and 3XXX cards, but unfortunately don't feel like waiting up to a year for a refresh

Terms of the coupon code are:

Offer valid 9/10/2020 7:00AM CST through 9/24/20 7:00AM CST Coupon is good with select other offers, but not with other coupons. Offer does not apply to, and is not available with, systems or items purchased through Dell Outlet or spare parts. Purchase limit of 3 items per order. Not valid for resellers and/or online auctions. Dell reserves the right to cancel orders arising from pricing or other errors.

However, in the past I've seen them end promos/sales before the actual coupon code terms state, so I wouldn't assume you have this full time

Haha exactly. I was trying to see if I should wait it out as well. I have a surface book 2 that is working fine but just haven't been happy with it. I hear the 13 in is getting the updated chip this fall but I feel the 17 in will be at least another 8 months or more. Probably can sell it for $200 less at that time and still be able to upgrade again if the difference is game changing.

Yup. Also, I got that one and the picture quality is really good and it's a good size for a 2k monitor. Speakers are trash tho. 1080p is not worth saving $50 on IMHO.

Thanks! Can I DM you one more monitor comparison?
