Promoted cheapie.
Given, it's a well reviewed promoted cheapie, but nonetheless it's a generic/no-name.

Personally would suggest paying more for something more accurate/quicker/good quality like ThermoWorks.

this "deal" is a dollar cheaper than the recurring post for $8 on this item but this might be the new normal for those version since they have a new one out. don't stock up/buy if you don't need it, you'll likely have another amazing opportunity at this price in a week or two.

Just letting you know, it's pretty much worthless. They sent me one as a replacement for the TP15 that read high. When I went to calibrate it in a mixture of ice and water I couldn't get it to go below 35 degrees. Tried it multiple times to no avail. So, basically both the TP15 and the TP01 are useless if you're planning to use them to cook meat to the right doneness. I ended up buying a Thermapen Mk4 and haven't looked back since. You get what you pay for.

Calibrate with boiling water (212 F) . Depending on the method of measurement you could be going out of range of the thermometer.

I've owned this for over a year and it does exactly what it is supposed to do. Calibration is easy and accurate. Don't listen to the fanboys who tell you to buy an $80 thermometer!

Just bought a thermopop today. This is tempting but we cook various meats so often I figure I'll go with the 3rd party reviewed and recommended option. Still, this is tempting.

I find it pretty suspicious how close the names are, somewhat riding on the notoriety of the thermoworks models.

Seconded. Works every bit as fast and is every bit as accurate as my overpriced Thermapen and my other Thermoworks gear.

It's not suspicious, it's what unscrupulous companies do to get sales.

I have this from the insane 0.73 price back about 6 months ago. It's fairly fast and accurate, but cheapy build quality.

Moved up to an MK4 and I'm extremely happy with it. I still keep this around since it is faster than most of the other ones. But nothing beats the MK4.

The MK4 is more a Porsche in speed and a Toyota, with it's reliability. This would be like a Ford or Chevy. It'll work, and it'll get you from point A to point B, but will crap out faster than you think.
