Is there a significant audible difference between these and the B30s if I am using the Bluetooth cable? Or would they need to be wired and connected to a nice headphone amp to hear the difference?

Hi, can someone quickly tell me why (these) earphones cost $400? What does this have that other earphones don't have?
Sound accuracy is a big thing, but really unless you already know all of the reasons and are someone who could answer your question far better than I can these are not for you, and the benefits of them would be lost on you. For the vast majority of people, they would not be able to tell the difference between a $300 and $3000 headset when it comes to the subtle nuances between how they sound. It is something you need to really build up knowledge and an ear for it to be able to get any benefit and it has greatly diminishing returns.

Sometimes with really nice headphones like this, the average person may actually think they don't sound that great because they are expecting something different since the intent of these is to represent the sound as accurately as it was intended by the person that created it. Taking a sound system and bumping up the volume on a subwoofer for instance may make it sound better for a lot of people, but that makes it less accurate compared to the original intent and this comes to personal preference and what you are looking for.

It isn't wrong to not be able to appreciate or notice these things and it isn't wrong to enjoy something different as well.

Another more universal comparison would by a TV, for the average person they wouldn't notice color accuracy in a TV and often people prefer features that kind of objectively make things look worse. Good examples of this could be people turning saturation up way too high so that "colors pop and look vibrant" but for a videophile, it looks atrocious. Another would be turning on motion smoothing or high framerate options on TVs that add the soap opera effect which some feel looks good, but for others like myself it looks really bad and causes video artifact issues and other issues that make the picture quality objectively worse, but those people don't notice/care about those things so they feel it is an improvement.

TLDR; If you don't know why you need these already, they aren't going to be for you.

They need to be wired, bluetooth just isn't quite there yet. If you are running through bluetooth the compression would make expensive headsets like this lose most of their value because they can no longer accurately represent the source since it no longer exists due to compression by the time the headset plays the signal. The average person would not be able to notice, I am definitely one of them, but the statement still stands. What separates these from other very nice headsets in the $200-400 range and not the $400-$1,000 range can't be decerned over Bluetooth for the most part.

I'm very impressed with these. There are a big upgrade to my W40's and very close to the W80's but with a more intimate soundstage, which I actually prefer. The v2 BT has AptX HD, which is a huge step above most BT headphones as well.
Unless I'm mistaken, the W60 doesn't include the V2 BT cable, only the W80 does. The gen 2 In the marketing of these is just to say it includes the v1 BT cable.

I disagree. There are multiple BT codecs today, the best being aptX HD. Apple uses AAC over BT. Most BT HPs don't support the former. Many don't support even aptX let alone AAC.

If interested, I found a good article explaining BT codecs: https://www.soundguys.com/underst...ecs-15352/

You've gotten at least one good answer. I'll add to it by saying that these will give greater clarity to the music, depth, a sense of scale (bigger fuller sound) and depth, and you'll hear things you've never heard before if you've only used cheap headphones/earbuds.

HOWEVER, unless you are someone who actively listens to your music (not just having it on in the background) then you may not notice a difference. This cost isn't for everyone. And that's not a judgment on folks. We want different things out of our music listening.

What's a good brand or set up to get my feet wet beyond the 10 dollar earbuds? Say around 100 bucks?

I'd love to test these out but I just don't know anyone dumb enough to pay this amount for ear-buds.
Can you carry your audiophile overear/onear headphones in your pocket? If you know/have one I'd love to know.

It doesnt do any good to explain. He knows. Some people just like to always be the devils advocate and try to make others feel odd because they have no comprehension or just want to rain on your parade. Im sure next earphone post, he will ask again. I bought these earphones last time. I recently bought the AKG 5005s and returned them. These were 10 times better. To really get the best of these you should run them with balanced cables.
What is your source and dac/amp setup? Thanks.

I absolutely love the sound of these headphones it is absolutely amazing and they are the most comfortable headphones I ever wore. I have worn them for 8-12 hrs at a time with no fatigue because they are light and very comfortable.

Having said that there is one huge drawback to these headphones and it is build quality. I think the company wanted them to be light and used thin plastic that is very easy to break. How easy you may ask ... well, I decided that instead of using the headphones just for listening to music a few times a month I was going to use them daily for work 8-12 hrs a day , after all i did pay a bunch of money so i want to get alot of use out of them.

By doing this I was taking them out and putting them in my ears about 5-10 times a day and after about a month of doing this daily both of the headphones cracked from simply putting them in and pulling them out of my ears so often.

When i contacted Westone about the warranty they were very responsive and helpful and said they would replace them but it would take 6-8 weeks to do so because of covid. Its been more then a month and i still have not gotten my replacement headphones.

I still recommend the headphones but be very careful on how you handle them because they are very very easy to break.
