Not bad at all. I own the R12-SW from the Costco deal, it doesn't compare to high end subs but it certainly gets the job done and is very powerful. I've seen some people say the R10-SW sounds better, and while it's less powerful it's still enough for most rooms. If you're looking for a sub in this price range you won't regret getting this. Some people might recommend the Bic F12 or a Dayton SUB-1200 or SUB-1500 as alternatives... I doubt there's a big difference in this price range so you might as well save a few bucks.
Won't compare in extension but if you get 4 of these (for each room corner) at the price of one of those, you'll have much more even response than one of those

Anyone with a lot of knowledge find it better to piece together as they go on sale or to buy one of the big sets around black Friday?

I'm talking to get best value at keeping it at a $2000 budget for speakers and another $500-700 for a nice receiver.

bundles are generally never a great purchase unless you were looking at the exact piece they contain. if not you will end up not liking them and then selling at a loss to get what you really want. you are likely to do better by waiting for specific deals that fit your needs and space better.

this posting is nothing more than an advertisement posted by an SD editor by one of the SD sponsors. as others have noted this is a low end product and klipsch subs tend to be boomy which is not what a sub should should like. it should be tight and accurate. there are other places to get better deals on much better equipment. if you need more info just send me a message and i can point you in that direction.

This 12" sub > https://www.parts-express.com/dayton-audio-sub-1200-12-120-watt-powered-subwoofer--300-629< is cheaper and won a budget subwoofer comparison based on subjective listening and measurements..
https://www.nytimes.com/wirecutte...subwoofer/

FYI..."the wirecutter" is the group that tested it...NYT bought "the wirecutter".

Well since you are asking in a Klipsch deal posted by iconian seller from Adorama.
You are going to get the usual useless BS on how this is just a sponsored post and how it's a bad "deal" which is a WRONG 🙄
They will point to presumed negative aspects but yet you see many others saying they are great for the price.

Somehow they already know your not going to like them, even though many do 🙄

They will tell to contact them and they can help you out 🙄

Beware it's all a sham and very shady when they do that.

Look at it this way, you can read all these opinions, specs and even contact these people and if you haven't actually listened to these speakers or the other suggested ones you are in the same position from where you started.
YOU STILL DON'T KNOW WHAT ANY OF THE SPEAKERS SOUND LIKE TO YOU!

An advantage of these packaged bundles is you get a lot for the money.
If you look back you hardly see any other deal comparable to them.

Piecing together a system may yield a "better" system just understand its going cost you more up front and a lot of time and patience.
As much as these people will try to tell what will sound good to you they CAN NOT, you will eventually need to listen.

Since you can't go listen to these nor 90% of what's available, these bundles may give you what you want for a good price.

I agree. The instant downvoting on iconian Adorama posts is so annoyingly knee-jerk in nature. I get it if there is an alternative, better price provided. But without that, it's hard to take seriously.

I just got the Costco Reference series bundle, sold the r-52c and replaced it with an rp-440c. I'm happy as a clam and couldn't find a way to build the setup for a better price anywhere else, but if I had needed a sub, one of iconian's packages would have been an even better deal.

Lol. I gave u a cheaper option that happens to be a bigger sub that has been "professionally" reviewed and found to be the "best" for most people on a budget, after subjective listing tests and objective measurements.

i think you're confused. all of iconian / adorama / klipsch postings make front page status (Usually with about 15-20 up votes). that is well before other deals that get more community up votes make front page.

You didn't give it to me, and I was referring to the responses to the bundles and not the individual sub in question. I agree there are better options for the money than Klipsch subs.

I'm not confused. The majority of his posts have the usual replies accusing him and Slickdeals of schilling Klipsch products from Adorama, which itself is fairly accurate, but my criticism is that those attacks come without alternatives for the products in question at a better price. I take issue with that. It's like people attacking Mac deals because PCs are cheaper. True, but that isn't the product the post is talking about.

Personally, I understand people's criticisms of Klipsch gear, but I prefer their "brighter" sound to the alternatives others recommend, but that's just my opinion.

FWIW, I just bought a Dayton sub-1200 after reading the Wirecutter article. Been on the fence about if I need a new sub but I'll give it a try.

Searching for them turns up a $15 off coupon for parts express that pushed me to pull the trigger.

there are plenty of options. the issue is that there are so many fanboys (With ZERO real world experience in this area) on this site that as soon as you post one item you get a flood of haters trashing it (Been there, had it happen MANY times on this particular site). that's why the dedicated AV forums are a better place for AV gear than SD. people on this board are more interested in saving $5 vs someone who is going to set up a proper AV or home theater system. most SD members have probably never seen or heard a well set up system.

I have this sub (R-10sw), and it is NOT 'boomy'. It is surprisingly tight. I have 2 Definitive Technology SuperCube I subs, and while this Klipsch may not be as tight as the super cubes, it is not far behind. For this price range it is an amazing sub.

It's funny how they complain about haters yet isn't that exactly what they do with Klipsch/iconian/Adorama 🙄

Funny how if you like Klipsch you must not have any experience and or you have never heard or seen a good setup 🙄

It just a bunch of arrogant BS thinking they can tell people what should sound go to them!
If you don't agree with them they come with these demeaning comments!

Most people have never heard a proper object based setup.
Does that mean all these people that have these alternatives have no real world experience and have no clue what sounds good..... HELL NO!

If these people don't like SD and prefer those AV forums, then leave already and QUIT COMPLAINING ALREADY! 😡
