That is correct. Menards good prices are always pick up in your local store. never a good price when shipping, and always a fee if they pick the item off the shelf and you pick it up.
Thumbs up... and exactly why around here, with the refusal of anyone under 16 inside the store, a fee to pull, no curbside pickup, etc., Lowes and Home Depot parking lots are full and Menards is kind of vacant. Heck, even 'parking for pickup' is used by every lazy slob that shops for an hour and comes out with a little bag and allowed.... The bait of one or two cheap items they often hide in another section and you have to find on your own without a service charge is not worth it.

"Other companies?" .... Name one.... Lowes, Home Depot, etc. do not pad their bottom line with service charges and even better, they have curbside service. As far as shipping, Menards is still in the stone age--- Lowes and Home Depot both have free shipping on many items and they both have a 10% military discount that Menards does not..
I find it also irritating that there are no product reviews on their website. In order to find those out, i have to go to a different site (maybe to my benefit), as sometimes it's cheaper there anyway.

And that easy rebate is BS when you get to major dollars.... I have $2700 worth that I am still arguing with the always anonymous idiots about.... They can't seem to understand that family members not in the same household qualify.
And home depot matches menards 11% rebate... effectively there is no reason to shop at menards.

I purchased these loppers and while the handles are not the most comfortable, they actually cut through some woody plants approx 1/2" diameter very easily. I'd suggest oiling them so they don't rust so quickly, but they seem good for the cheap price.

I agree, but one thing Menards typically has that is better than Lowes and Home Depot is better quality dimensional lumber in the larger sizes.... and it is still junk lumber you have to pick through.

2.80 processing fee, what's up with that
Basically they are passing off the time it takes to pick the order and process it. Most store just figure that in to the cost of doing business but not Menards. The messed up part is if you go there and the item is damaged you still have to pay the processing fee, they will not take it off. I had a special order there and they lost the item and it didn't come in for months. I could not wait so I got something else. They charged a restocking fee even though it was their fault.
When John Menard started the company he didn't know how to run a store so he went to the library and couldn't find a book about it so he took an Army manual and used that.

Dang, even with processing fee, $5 for loppers is cheaper than buying used on marketplace or
Craigslist. It only let me buy one. I'll see if they have any in the store when I pick up.

Some companies do not sell or ship to CA because of oppressive regulations - Academy Sports is another.

I have to defend Menards to a certain extent. They run a different model compared to Home Depot and Lowes. First off Menards is not nationwide, the are still small in that respect. They have made adjustments to meet consumer requests (online ordering, order for store pickup) but they charge you thier cost for that service. Thier model of running a business has not been updated to roll those costs into product price as I suspect over 75% (probably 90%) is in store business. So why raise there price to move the model to online? I buy from Menards #1, Home Depot #2 and Lowes #3. Admittedly Menards garden center for plants suck and they have no indoor plants so that has always been odd to me. But Menards does cater to more commercial customers. Drive in lumber yards, building designs with complete products lists, etc.
Also they have introduced groceries (I'll admit it's come in handy) but is so odd for a home improvement to have.
Complete sidebar, I use the menards app. Is has qty. Available in store and will typically show you on the store map where to find the item. For instance with these there are 23 available at the next closest Menards.
I know I will get flack back for this and thats fine. Shop where you prefer.

This is the only reason I shop at Menards. Nowhere else has the dimensional lumber save for a lumber yard!

They want you to come into the store and shop.... Unlike many reputable stores, Menards lacks curbside pickup and if you want an item pulled and ready for pickup at the service desk inside the store, that is the fee for doing so. In April, Menards enacted a policy that refuses entry to anyone under 16 and if questionable, must produce an ID.... not certain if still in effect.

Besides the Covid deal, exactly why many elderly family members have switched to Lowes or Home Depot.
How is that even legal? Age discrimination lawsuit anyone? =(
