Is the reconditioned Samsung so much better as to want it vs this new LG?

If you're on straight talk, total wireless, or tracfone, or want a Wifi-only device, this is pretty great for this price, although "reconditioned" is always a big question mark and could ruin the value.

The stats are all in the main post already but the main selling points are:
-large OLED screen - the cheaper A10 and A20 don't use OLED
-4000mah battery, usb-c, 15w fast charge
-headphone jack
-bluetooth 5 + nfc

It's a popular phone - either the a50 or a51 have been in the top 2-3 most sold smartphones of any kind 2019-2020. It was $300-350 when it launched in mid 2019, so it's still relatively modern.

The main recurring complaint from reviewers is the slow (in-display) fingerprint reader, which imo is a pretty minor complaint.

So if I buy just the phone, I can activate it over to Tracfone? I already have minutes and have been looking to get a new phone. Thanks in advance.

These phones have to be purchased with data plans but you have to use it.

Yes or you can just use your tracfone plan. They are universal.

Phone can be used on PagePlus, Net10, Tracfone, and Total Wireless. Exception is probably going to be Simple Mobile that runs exclusively on T-Mo. Not 100% sure though as the phone does have the bands.

Note that Tracfone and all of their sister brands (ST, PagePlus, Net10, etc) was just bought out by Verizon for 7 Billion dollars. I'm leery as Verizon is stingy on offering any "deals".

Not going to be final for a while. Took years to complete Sprint deal.

Sprint deal involved their own network and frequencies to be integrated with T-Mo's network. Tracfone deal seems pretty straight forward as they are simply a mvno of Verizon and using their towers. I'm not a fan of these acquisitions as competition is in our best interest as consumers. Time will tell.

Tracfone is NOT simply an MVNO of Verizon. They are MVNO's for every major carrier, you can get a Straight Talk Phone that runs on ATT or a Tracfone on Sprint, etc

Exactly - plus there's lots of red tape to get through, will take time.

From CNBC - "The acquisition is expected to close in the second half of 2021 and is subject to regulatory approvals".

Doesn't mean it's a done deal, a lot will happen in the next year.

Tracfone on Sprint (assuming before the buyout)? I've never seen any TF using Sprint network. Yes, T-Mo and At&t but Verizon is the largest by far.
