Odd pairing, 9th gen with a 2060???
Not odd at all. It's actually the most common pairing and has been out since last year (pre-10th gen).

That's why I said in my opinion.

So ram $50 and a new hdd, even mechanical, is $100 for 2TB. So $150, like I said, for that and you still lose out on Wi-Fi speed, display panel, and processor.
Buddy this deal is not for you move along if you don't like it. With the specs you are asking you will not get less than $1200. Most laptops aren't coming out with 144hz out the door. You have to add that option when ordering. That is going to put price way up. Same goes with other options you are requesting.

Also what will you be loosing with that wifi card? Speed? That's laughable because since this intel wifi card has 5.0 Bluetooth this may be a an 8200 or above such as 9200 series. 8200 delivering 867mb/s speeds with the 9200 series at 1.7gb/s. Either way those speeds are super plenty for your needs and way above an average user's needs.

The rest of options you can upgrade at a later point. Even with the included ram you will be able to play most games at desired settings. The RTX 2060 is not odd....getting a laptop with this price point with an RTX 2060 is seriously good. This processor is actually really good for your gaming needs. Last gen? This isn't a console buddy. it will still perform optimally. Expect to invest on things you are wanting if getting at this price. Even when you buy those things it will still be a slick deal in comparison to factory options.

There are better deals for sure than 9th gen intel, 4xxx series AMD for example. AMD is late to the party putting 2060s in laptops with less than a 4800..

CPU is a big bottleneck for such a great card. Would also make the argument to go 16GB RAM minimum on a gaming PC. Windows typically eats around 3GB run comfortably. That remaining 5GB isn't enough for modern games if you're trying to play on high settings and such.

No it isn't.

It's largely game dependent but in general the i5-9300 performs similar to the i7-9750 in games.

I never said this wasn't a slick deal. I just said in my opinion, based on my usage, I would be spending $150+ in upgrades so I might as well get a laptop that has those upgrades and more.

This is still a great deal for someone who doesn't mind compromising on specs.
Is the screen, cpu and ram good enough tho? 🤔

Color gamut isn't great, fwiw, if someone's intending this for Photoshop / video / rendering. This is a gaming machine that cuts corners elsewhere.

Why do people list MSI laptops on here? They have a well known defect on their hinges being plastic and breaking all the time. To me, that is a deal breaker. Also do a Google search on MSI and how they treat product reviewers. I used to buy MSI GeForce video cards, but never again as two died right out of the warranty whereas never had an issue with EVGA or others. Am I off base here?

If you want a REAL laptop, go to origin PC and get one with a real DESKTOP AMD CPU. As soon as they go to 3080, I will buy one. But I priced out one with 12C/24T, 2070, 64GB ram for around $1789. Cleo/Origin/Sabre/Others/etc are all the same laptop but with different configurations and prices and WAY cheaper than comparable laptops from Dell (who I have owned at least 12 of their laptops), Alienware (part of Dell I know), Asus, Gigabyte, MSi/etc. If you like Intel, they even have one with Intel desktop CPU - and YES, the CPU is upgradeable in the AMD and Intel versions.
I second this post. My MSI currently makes a decent desktop gaming rig for my son because the hinge broke and their customer service is garbage. It still connects to a monitor so the only time I have to open the broken lid is when I have to power the device on.

Not really. They are in the same generation. 10th just came out and they use the same chips for the 9th gen.

Maybe innovation should be rewritten the Intel law, if it ain't broke and fools keep paying more money for it, why screw with undeserving success.

I understand what you are saying, but I think if you aren't trying to game then it's unclear why you are considering this laptop in the first place

Given how much better the new RTX cards are, a new RTX laptop will be relevant longer when a bunch of new games come out that expect their users to have better cards

I think holding off is the best move if at all possible. I also think we are going to see some stellar deals on RTX 2060 laptops on BF so that's another possibility
I agree we will see some stellar deals 2 months, 4 months, 6 months, a year, its what computer prices generally do go down. {not counting the spikes do to shortages or corona}. How long do you want to wait, budget, and when do you need it by are the questions people need to ask.

As for me
I was just commenting I am not considering this laptop at all, I ordered the Eluktronics RP-17 yesterday I was responding to a previous question.

The reason I choose that unit, is it should play game extremely well, but it will also handle a diversified workload. I have a dedicated desktop I use Strictly for gaming and nothing else but I can't sit in front of it for hours on end and expect to keep my gf happy. So I compromise and have a notebook that can game pretty darn good if not at competitive levels. So I can sit on the couch and game while she watches 90 day fiance (ugh) but were together and interacting.
Shes happy and im happy.
Plus if I need to travel and I can still game in the air pot, hotel, road etc.

This deal is not bad but its meh not great. If you need a notebook today and its all you can afford you could do worse. If you don't need it today and you can come up with a few more dollars you can do much better.

EDIT: I also have an HP Spectre 13.3 I use only for business and business travel
