I can't say that it's apples to apples, but Costco has an excellent deal on a GE75.... it's going to cost 500.00 more than this one, but the specs are better. I imagine that this is just a push to sell off the RTX 20XX since the new cards were announced.

Intel gen 8 through 10 are practically the same. So gen 9 is just fine.
But it's still an i5 with a 2060 which is stupid. For the same price just a week ago they had other laptops with 9th gen i7, 16gb ram and 144mhz screen for the same price.

Mid range CPU and Mid range GPU pair just fine with either other. Especially for games.
If your statement is true that those specs were on an 899 laptop then Those are great deals. If it was a few hundred more then this is pretty dang good for a budget gamer.

Yes He is thinking of this Acer deal
https://slickdeals.net/f/14321078-acer-nitro-5-gaming-laptop-intel-i7-9750h-15-6-144hz-256gb-nvme-ssd-16gb-ddr4-memory-geforce-rtx-2060-gddr6-gpu-win-10-899-99-free-shipping-via-amazon#comments

It had superior specs to this deal for the same price, just 11 days ago. But I think that deal didn't last but a couple hours. So very few got in on that deal.

But 9th gen i5 and 8gb ram, would make me cringe when spending more than $750. Even though those specs don't matter very much when playing PC games. It's about getting the latest & most specs for our dollar. so imo I would wait for newer 10th gen, or ryzen 7/9 specs.

I've been following Slickdeals closely for these type of laptops. Here are the best deals that have come in the recent past :

Having said all the above, I do think this laptop is in the same ballpark of the other gaming laptop deals. Maybe if you cannot wait for better deals and must have something now, then this may be "luke warm" ok.

Sure it would. HP Omen is a much better overall package and was recently on sale for $1050
Definitely agree. I bought that HP Omen at that price for my son, and couldn't be happier. It's a very good gaming (and otherwise) computer -- fast, well built, and great specs at a reasonable price.

For those saying to wait until the 30 series drops, be aware that we're not going to see any 30 series gpu's in laptops until next summer at the very earliest. They'll probably come out at hefty premium next fall or winter. I would guess $1400+ and up for a laptop with a 3070 coming out next fall.

If you want a gaming laptow now, this $900 deal is great for gaming at high-ultra settings at 1080p for most modern games. Also know that most games will be optimized for PS5/Xbox, so you'll be fine for at least the next few years. It's probably get stupid hot because of how thin it is though.

I would personally wait until BF to see what the offerings are, but this is still a solid deal if you slap another 8gb RAM in there and alreay have an external hdd where you keep your games.

Why do people list MSI laptops on here? They have a well known defect on their hinges being plastic and breaking all the time. To me, that is a deal breaker. Also do a Google search on MSI and how they treat product reviewers. I used to buy MSI GeForce video cards, but never again as two died right out of the warranty whereas never had an issue with EVGA or others. Am I off base here?

If you want a REAL laptop, go to origin PC and get one with a real DESKTOP AMD CPU. As soon as they go to 3080, I will buy one. But I priced out one with 12C/24T, 2070, 64GB ram for around $1789. Cleo/Origin/Sabre/Others/etc are all the same laptop but with different configurations and prices and WAY cheaper than comparable laptops from Dell (who I have owned at least 12 of their laptops), Alienware (part of Dell I know), Asus, Gigabyte, MSi/etc. If you like Intel, they even have one with Intel desktop CPU - and YES, the CPU is upgradeable in the AMD and Intel versions.
Because even though they're good, they're like 5.9 pounds. Desktop replacement tier. Way better than the olde days, though, that site looks cool.

I just found a competing deal to this laptop an ACER Nitro 5 Sold at Walmart.
Seems a little better specs than this laptop, same CPU, more RAM (16gb ddr4), smaller ssd but extra 1 TB hdd, slightly better 144hz screen.

I Just Made a post about it here >>

Looks like a good deal to me. A 2060 probably isn't being bottlenecked by the 9th gen i5. Bringing up the wifi card as a con is pretty redic. I don't ever expect to get blazzing speeds over wifi. If I'm gaming on it i'd be on ethernet. As a gamer, and while traveling for work, the last thing I think of is needing a latest gen wi fi card. With that said, they're usually like $10-15 used on ebay to swap in.

This looks like a good deal to me, but before I get blacklisted for thinking 8gb of ram can be usable-
Does somebody more knowledgeable than me also think it's a good deal? 😂
I bought a slightly different version of this laptop from one of the previous deals (MSI GF Series GF65 THIN 9SD 15.6" 120 Hz IPS Intel Core i5 9th Gen 9300H (2.40 GHz) NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti 8 GB Memory 512 GB NVMe SSD Windows 10 Home 64-bit Gaming Laptop) @ $750 + tax + free shipping. I play on a 144Hz monitor on my desktop computer and the 120Hz on this one does not bother me at all. I mainly just play overwatch. The ram though... I do like to open a crap ton of tabs in my browser so yeah, after the 8GB fills up, everything starts to slow down a lot, so I end up having to close a bunch of tabs and then restart the browser. I used CPU-Z to get the part number of the existing 8GB module in it and I ordered the same one (used) on ebay for $25 shipped. I have high confidence that 16GB will be plenty for my usage. As far as everything else, it works really well in terms of CPU power, wi-fi speed, and 512GB SSD is enough for me personally. Sure it is not the latest, but for what I use it for it is more than enough. My favorite part - this laptop does not come off as one of these obnoxious looking gaming laptops. I can bring it to work and leave it somewhere in plain view in my office without coworkers or my boss silently drawing conclusions about my work ethics.

So, there is actually something that I'm not so thrilled about this laptop but I can live with it. Since there are no ports in the back, all of the connection ports are on the sides of it. The left side only has 2: power and HDMI, but the right side carries everything else: RJ45, audio jack, 2x USB, and 2x USB-C. I'm right-handed, so the mouse is on the right side which is where all of the connections are for the external mouse, network, and headphones. It tends to get in the way during gaming sessions if your mouse is too close to the laptop and your mouse travel distances are high. I'd much rather have all of this stuff on the left side, and the ports from the left to be on the right.

You buy it from Costco and couple it with $100 square trade warranty. I was going to do it but people like you stopped me from doing it, not sure if it was a good decision now... They say get Legion instead...

For another $117 plus tax one can remedy the shortfalls with more memory and a second SSD:

8GB of RAM
https://www.newegg.com/team-8gb-2...6820331500 [newegg.com]

1TB SSD
https://www.newegg.com/mushkin-en...6820226908 [newegg.com]

As for the 120 Hz panel it sure beats a 60 Hz panel! I wouldn't sweat it.
Or maybe I already have a 2 TB NVME and 32gb DDR4 in my "business" laptop and I'm going to relegate it to backup by putting this drive and ram in it and moving these to the new one.

It was a good decision after you pay $100 and if you put a claim, another deductible applies. Then, if the hinges go out again, you are out the cost of the laptop.

To TRY to prevent cracking, you would have to remove partially the glued on bezel, and then use a wrench to loosen the screws that control the tension on lifting up the cover. Other people added glue and foam in there as well. IF they have to replace the screen, doing this kind of screws that up too. I made the mistake once and will never do that again.
