How is 0.3 better? I'm curious since I been using 5 and have considered 10, but if going a little lower is better then I'll go that route.
too much causes depression - u only need 2-3 mg

Isn't 5mg too much. I read 2mg is better and actually more effective. That said good deal. I can chop in half
I have 5mg different brand chewable it doesn't knock me out.

I meant if you can reference crowd sourced information on deal. Why can't you reference crowd sourced information on product or supplement in this case. Obviously, you should be checking with your doctor, but it doesn't seem to be a bad point of information. I have just started taking melatonin, and I did not know what dose I should beware until now. So, I have been just taken 10 mg which I might try to take just half tonight. Chill out. Peace
I'm chill. I didn't attack anyone. I just think that it isn't smart for people to be taking advice from individuals not in the medical field. I could easily say that 25 mg is the best way to go and someone might believe me. I guess I shouldn't have said anything. Sorry to bother anyone.

I use this brand for the regular (unflavored) kind. Be aware this has Sucralose in it, which is a neuro-toxin. So if it's something you're taking daily, I would opt for the swallow-able kind without Sucralose..

The amount the body naturally produces is considered the therapeutic dose (0.1mg - 0.5mg but often 0.3mg). However, with all melatonin supplements studies have shown the actual amounts can vary significantly from the label. Even in cases where the labels are accurate (seems to be accurate for most Natrol melatonin tested by Labdoor), one has to consider the effective dose you really get from taking a 5mg, 3mg, etc. after first pass metabolism, absorption %, and actual bioavailability.

Some studies have shown the absorption To be anywhere from 10% to 50% of what's on the label. Perhaps that's why 2.5, 3, or 5mg work great for some people because the effective dose ends up being much less than what's on the label.

Most recommend starting with the lowest dose (say 300mcg = 0.3mg) and increasing slowly until you find the the lowest dose that works for you. The higher the dosage, the more likely one is to have side effects. Up to 5mg has been shown to not interfere with your natural melatonin production and most doctors won't recommend exceeding 10mg for sleep. Higher doses are used sometimes in conjunction with chemotherapy and such but it's generally considered safe even at much higher doses, but everyone is different and many people probably don't need as much as they are taking to achieve the same result.

There's also a FDA approved drug ramelteon that you can speak to your doctor about for long term use that acts like melatonin by targeting melatonin receptors if you don't trust the quality of supplements. It's been shown to not have any dependency, major side effects, and doesn't impact seratonin, gaba, dopamine etc like most sleeping prescriptions do.
Not safe for use if you're taking fluvoxamine

How do these compare to Equate's maximum strength sleep-aid softgels?
That's actually generic Benadryl

Only melatonin brand to give me weird night sweats, never taking melatonin again. It disrupts your natural melanin production

Tried this brand and flavor. Doesn't works for me, even 10 MG does not. Gummies work but only certain brands, same goes for rapid capsules. Wondering if melatonin differs...
