Very good deal on the Milwaukee M18 Fuel Hackzall (2719-20). This tool is regularly priced @ $159 so you're essentially getting the battery for free (which is a $70 value). I believe this is a web only price so you won't be able to do the "turn in" trick at a HD B&M store to get the tool cheaper.
https://www.homedepot.com/p/Milwa...cale=en-US

Can also get this same deal @ Acme Tools:
https://www.acmetools.com/shop/to...cating-saw (final price is $3 cheaper since there's no tax but you do pay for shipping; currently OOS but you can still order)

If you want it cheaper and don't want the battery you can save some money by getting it at Amazon (though Amazon is not an authorized dealer so you won't get a 5 year warranty, you'll only get a 3 year warranty):
https://www.amazon.com/Milwaukee-...B076JHJKR8

Tool specs:
  • POWERSTATE Brushless Motor: Increased cutting speed and power throught the toughtest applications
  • REDLINK Plus Intelligence: The most advanced system of cordless power tool electronics; provides optimized performance and overload protection using total sysem communication between tool, battery and charger
  • REDLITHIUM battery technology: Superior pack construction, electronics and performance deliver more work per charge and more work over pack life than any battery on the market
  • 1-Handed design provides superior control and versatitily over standard reciprocating saws
  • 7/8 in. stroke length removes more material with each stroke resulting in the faster cuts
  • Pivoting shoe provides constant contact with the work-piece resulting in smoother cuts with less bucking and vibration
  • REDLINK PLUS intelligence and POWERSTATE Brushless Motor combine to provide up to 3x longer tool life than competitive one-handed recips

This tool gets good reviews across the internet and compares very well to other leading hackzall tools.

Pair this with the new AX carbide pruning clean wood sawzall blade [milwaukeetool.com] (48-00-5231 (6"), 48-00-5232 (9"), 48-00-5233 (12")) to do your end of the year pruning around the yard.

I also have the M12 hackzall (non-fuel version). It does suffer from power not to mention it uses smaller M12 batteries. The M18 fuel hackzall is basically the same form factor (same size and weight) as the M12, but it's motor is brushless and it has a longer blade stroke so its more powerful and more battery efficient. For this reason if I had to pick between the two, I'd go for the M18 fuel hackzall vs. the M12 fuel as you get more power in basically the same form factor.
TY. I was going to lookup the M12 version. You saved me time > go with the M18 if anything.

Not that this helps, but this same deal was $139 last week.
With battery? M18 Fuel Brushless and 5.0 Ah battery? If yes, link please?

Can you give your feedback on the M12 FUEL hackzall's effectiveness & battery power on: 6 inch branches? Ty

My M12 non-fuel hackzall wasn't cutting it when I needed to prune larger diameter branches

How has no one mentioned turning one of these into a massage gun with the add-ons?

Last week Home Depot had this package for $139 for the deal of the day. It was already sold out by 1pm PST. I was waiting for the deal, sad I missed it.

The Fuel M12 is much bigger and heavier than the non-fuel version. It's 80% the size of the M18 Fuel.

The non-fuel M12 feels like a toy compared to the bigger Fuel versions. I've had all three and ended up with the M12 in my tool bag because it's most capable and portable and I carry mostly M12.

I think effectiveness of the M12 brushed hacksaw depends on the job. Check out this video [youtube.com] of a guy comparing the older M12 hacksaw model (brushed version) vs the new M18 fuel hatchet (skip to the 5:50 mark).

I didn't notice one especially for this tool, but there was one with a bunch of one-day sale on Milwaukee; as I bought the M12 Stubby with free battery from that deal.

Right, the M12 non-fuel is a toy. PVC or EMT up to 2" maybe. It'll get the job done, but it struggles. And in my experience, the guys who have those don't have the 6ah batteries. They usually have the original 1.5 and maybe those XC batteries.

I say it's a toy, but the average homeowner could mess around with it here and there. I wouldn't use it on branches because it's so underpowered and cutting through live or not fully dried timber is actually pretty tough.

In your video link, the M12 brushed hacksaw took 35 seconds to cut a 2.5 inch branch. The M18 Sawzall took 5 seconds.

Yeah somehow got on the Milwaukee contractor mailing lists* and so I got their announcement of the Hatchet, which sounds great until I looked at the price. Might get one someday as I'm sure there will be deals. I can see how that might be a really ideal tool for certain garden tasks. (always ask yourself, how much would I have to pay someone else to do this work, vs doing it myself with a really cool tool?)

*One benefit of getting on the Milwaukee contractor email list is out of the blue, they sent me a nice red Milwaukee T-Shirt. Sorry, can't tell you how to sign up or when that happens, but it was a nice surprise. I'm pretty sure I spend enough on their stuff to justify it.
Are you sure you didn't win their contest? Where you enter a code that comes with their tools? Random people win a shirt. I've submitted about 10-15 codes and still nothing. I don't know if they have a contractors mailing list.

The 3-year warranty thing is false. You still get a 5 year warranty, but it will go off the date code on your serial number sticker. All buying from an authorized retailer gets you is resetting the clock to when your actual purchase was made, assuming you can produce a receipt.
