Lies. Norton is one of the best antivirus/security products out there. Maybe you're thinking early 2000 Norton..
He's right. Norton is an outdated & bloated piece of spyware.

So perpetual license then? At what point would it become obsolete?
Honestly never, like you can still use office 2007 today and produce good documents, like what has really changed all that much?

that depends on what you do. i was using office 2007 and photoshop lightroom 5 (2013 edition) until 2019. it all still works and i would have kept using it if my job didn't provide office 365 and a full adobe CC subscription to me for free

Doesn't include Outlook!

Please add this to your post, OP:

DOES NOT INCLUDE OUTLOOK

Office without Outlook is not worth $80.

I didn't realize the perpetual license doesn't include Outlook anymore...
You will need to splurge a bit more for the version with Outlook included. There was a Woot deal about 2 months which had Outlook for $20 more. I now regret not getting it.

This is how it used to be before they started with the internet version. I'm still running office 2007 on one of my computers. It's hasn't been supported for years but it still works fine.

meh! garbage... no outlook... no onenote.... I was okay to use other free open source products for word, excel, etc., outlook was the only one I thought not replaceable. Now, time to move on.

Finally Microsoft found a way to kill themselves.

Ebay has a bunch of sellers on Home office 1 key perm for 60 to 70 range, these any good?
No don't trust them. You may regret it down the road. Microsoft occasionally invalidates keys that were not generated by them.

I changed out my harddrive to a SSD hd a year ago.... purchased Office (full retail version) through Microsfot online and now I cannot reinstall it Frown... like I have to purchase a second copy.

This is why I hate these online companies and I never feel bad if I get software for free.

Sorry but open source sucks for productivity use cases and actual business use cases.

This, or buy a full Professional key on eBay for $3? Hmmm...
This 100%. That key that was generated would be invalidated in the future when Microsoft occasionally purges systems that use the unauthorized keys. But ultimately the decision is yours.
