From a previous thread...Wave

Sprint's 5G network has been decommissioned, and Tmobile's new network will not support Sprint's phones (except the Galaxy S20): https://www.androidpolice.com/202...st-merger/

So if you think this is a 5G phone, it is not.

'All of this to say if you own any Sprint 5G phone that does not have "Galaxy S20" in its name, it will eventually lose access to either network's 5G, period.'

Be careful of this seller. Bought this phone on a previous deal. While it does arrive in new condition when I tried to return it due to 5g not working on any other carrier, the seller claimed the phone was damaged and refunded half the amount. I sent the phone back unopened in the same condition. Ebay is absolutely useless due to the pandemic, and they have sent multiple emails promising rest of the refund but money never was refunded. If you look at previous deal pages about this phone from this seller, you will see more posts like mine. I recommend if you buy the phone and want to return, just put it up for sale rather than return or youll get scammed.
How do you know 5g not working without opening the phone? If you know that without opening the phone, why did you buy it from the very beginning? Clearly you used the phone and just wanted to return it with a non valid excuse saying 5g not working and wanted the seller to suck up the shipping cost and depreciation of the phone to ship you a new phone and get back a used phone after you used it for a few weeks.

I bought 3 phones from this seller in the past few years and had pretty good experience.

5g not working on other carries is not a valid reason for return unless the seller claimed that it does.
It's like returning an iPhone saying it doesn't run Android 11 or doesn't have a card slot.

Love the phone, fantastic upgrade for me from V20 the last time this hit FP, but I hate the lack of VoLTE on TMobile, and a bit concerned about when they start shutting down 3G...
You sure that it doesn't have volte?

No VoLTE on this phone unless you root it which is pretty complicated currently as there is no guide out on XDA Devs. There is no option in the Sprint menus for VoLTE.

Hi, thanks for your feedback. Are you able to use Wi-Fi calling on this phone? Is tethering available as well?

TIA!

I got this phone last time it was FP. what do I have to do with the apn settings?
From the seller's listing:
Quote :
In some cases you may need to update your APN setting for MMS and Internet, in that case please follow the following instruction:
Open Dialer (Where you dial a number) then type ##3282# (##DATA#)
Tap "APN Settings" (or "MMSC" if you want to change)
Tap "Internet"
Tap "Edit"
Enter Service code (SPC Code=MSL in EDF) Please send us an email requesting SPC code with your IMEI Number and we will send you the SPC Code
Tap "APN NI"
Enter any APN names you want to change then tap "OK"
Please make sure if the APN has been updated to what you changed.
Reboot the device
I did not have to reboot the device. The changes worked right away.

Can someone give me a reason to abandon my daily driver LG V40 ThinQ for this?
Not enough difference, I wouldn't bother. Only reason I didn't get the V40 was because the V50 was the same price on ebay. Battery life is better, but the rest is not very significant.

Shutting down 3G means no call service on a unlocked smartphone, what a smart choice to buy this phone!

Huh, I won't be able to use my iPhone 6 anymore?

With shutting down of 3G, all voice calls will be made over LTE networks (VOLTE).

Except this device will not support tmobile VOLTE, correct?

Slow down, people...this is illogical. The v50 most certainly supports VoLTE. However, since these are unlocked, VoLTE may not be CURRENTLY supported on your carrier right now. By the time 3G is disabled, you will probably already be looking at a new phone, anyway, but even if not, your carrier most certainly would have made it VoLTE-capable.

Speaking with regards to T-Mobile, since this is a Sprint phone and they are now absorbed T-Mobile, you can be certain that this phone will be VoLTE capable sooner rather than later, and definitely by the time they turn off 3G.

Note: My daughter is a manager in a local Sprint/T-Mobile store.

We have three V30+ phones and a Note 8, all of which are older than a V50--all have VoLTE. Sprint pushed out that update awhile ago.

Save your pennies for the v60. Vastly better battery, active pen, and newer 5G modem.

Is this phone better than the Oneplus 7, 7T, and 8?

You're thinking of Velvet... V60 has a newer ESS DAC than what's in the v30-v50/G8. V60 has 5G, 865, 5k battery, etc.
