I heard this as well. The same thing for "Penny" at TDBank, they were counting change wrong and that's why it's no longer a service at TD bank. I think even if they take 10% or miscount by that much, you're still getting ahead.
How exactly are you "getting ahead" by losing 10%?

I don't know how much coins I saved. How can I just deposit only $30 instead of more than necessary to get this $5 bonus from the kiosk?
I feel like this is a question that only someone who couldn't possibly form a sentence would ask, yet here you are.

The Coinstar near me doesn't show me Amazon gift card as a cash out option for gift cards, is it supposed to show up before putting the coins in or after?

Worked good for me. They take bills and coins. You choose the gift card type before starting, some machines only offer certain types of cards. Look on the coinstar web site locater to find one near you that gives amazon gift cards.

Yeah, because scammers don't use number generators, right?
Surely the guy saying to redeem the code immediately was referring to cases of someone looking over your shoulder at the slip or you losing the paper... An Amazon GC has over 7 septillion possible permutations, you can't seriously believe there is any real risk of random number generator fraud going on en masse with people successfully guessing valid card #'s & one of the largest companies in the world apparently having no ability to detect and block it

It worked - I never used Coinstar before.

1. Find a coinstar machine https://www.coinstar.com/findakio...oductId=42
2. Tap the screen, select Amazon Gift card option
3. Dump all your coins totaling over $30
4. Select "Done" and print the gift card receipt
5. Redeem the gift card code at https://amazon.com/gc-coinstar
6. When gift card is redeemed, you will get an instant email with text:

"As a thank you for adding $30 or more coins to your Amazon Balance with Amazon.com Gift Card claim code, a $5 promo credit has been applied to your account. The $5 credit will be displayed at checkout to your next qualifying purchase of items shipped from and sold by Amazon.com. Your credit expires on December 31, 2020 at 11:59 p.m. (PT)."

NOTE: The machine, and the receipt, both DO NOT MENTION the promotion anywhere. That's ok. It still works (once per amazon account).

I hope the accuracy has improved over the years. I had used coinstar a few times some years ago, and that 5$ credit might be a break even point back then.

This type of thing was posted within the last few months... A few people said that coinstar didn't accurately count their money, so you might not quite get the $5 extra bonus. I'd be curious to try, but I doubt I have $30 worth of change

You don't have to do this with coins, Coinstar machines take bills. Did this a couple of month ago when it needed $20 for the $5.

However, the machine took my $20 and never gave the credit just a receipt with a ref. number, had to call them and they mailed a check a month later. Same machine worked fine the next day.
