Not Amazon. Coinstar does collect coins.

Don't forget to bring extra coins the machine miscount sometimes.
I've always wondered what the payback would be if these companies scanned for silvers. That would be the easiest and quickest thing to do vs scanning for dates. When I hunted silvers my rate was 1 per box of dimes and 1 per 4 boxes of quarters or halves. They count in such volumes it would be interesting to rough calc how much they could make that way.

One of these days I'm going to do a deep dive on the pile. They say to separate into denominations so you can "get an eye" for those special marks. That's awesome you've found rare coins in the reject. Do people not hear it kick back coins? Maybe they don't really care.
I used to hunt silvers and used the TD bank Penny Arcade machine quite a bit before they yanked them all out. Since I would routinely count several $k, they'd usually have to change bags several times for my counts and this would wind up opening the machine, which involved cleaning the magnet bars which generally catch foreign coins. They'd usually give them to me too.

I don't know how recent you mean but last year I redeemed around $130 worth of change and it was only off by less than a dollar from what my change-counting jar said.

Not bad seeing as they don't charge fees (currently 11.9%) on E-gift cards option, that I'm aware of.
Suggestion, for those leery about the machine discrepancies. Considering a lot of retailers I.E. Wally-World make you self check out anyways select a kiosk/ register that accepts cash (although, lately those are far and in-between) and load it up with change. I try to limit such transactions to $5 dollars give or take with assorted coinage so I verify the accuracy. Its a 2 for 1, you're eliminating change and saving a 11.9% fee on that change.

Yeah, check the kiosk locator because not all of them say they have amazon.com GCs. The two closest to me do not and the rest do but are far enough away to not be worth the time/gas to get $5.

yup you got it right. they used to have some great selections on e-giftcards with $0 fee. but then they took them all off. now just some overpriced merchandises that noone wants.
It must be different on different machines or something. Because it obviously has amazon on some if this deal is going on. But I remember when I was using it I couldn't get ANY gift cards. It advertised them as no fee then when I put my money in the option for selecting gift cards was greyed out. This was probably like two years ago, but I wonder if I will be screwed over again. I probably don't even have $30 in change, though. lol. I could cash bills for coins just to do the deal, but that is probably going a bit overboard just for $5.

they are these coinstar machine. infact, i dont remember if they have any competitors.

its not jsut for the $5, its more like some real cash conversion without a fee. you will spend on amazon on 1:1 ratio just like cash. unlike some other overpriced options.

I did this once with a Lowe's gift card. The Coinstar prints out a receipt and the gift card # is on the receipt. When I went to Lowe's they entered the number at the register and it subtracted the purchase total from the gift card balance.

Is anyone else paranoid about losing out on rare coins? This deal alone had me lose 20 minutes of Googling tips on how to spot valuable coins. I think I'll just shove this 100lb bucket of coins back into the closet.
You're never going to look through those coins and when your kids inherit them they'll take them to Coinstar anyway.

Even if it doesn't 'miscount' there's a good chance some of your coins will be considered 'Duds' by the machine and rejected. So always bring a little extra, not $30 exact.
The "duds"drop down into a coin return that you should check before you cash out. Run those coins through again to see if it will take the 2nd time. If not, keep them as loose change.
I was at a Coinstar machine once and it jammed. The store manager came over and opened the machine to clear the jam. She gave me those coins back, PLUS, she checke another cup in the machine that collects odd sized coins and gave me those too. Well those were all collectible coins that folks just threw into their jars and forgot about.
CHA-CHING!
