Not rude at all, I debated buying a coupon but I decided to wait since I knew the coupon was coming. Ended up seeing one near my in-laws at sale price with $9 delivery from the store so I did that. Saved $45 with the 15% off coupon. Hopefully it shows up today.
Awesome!!! Glad to hear
See it all worked out 👍
I've had a few experiences over time that I missed out on deals cause of trying to get coupon or debating if I really needed it etc and have come to the conclusion as other members on here have suggested, it's order first ask yourself the questions later as you can always return it to your local store 😆

Ya, the rub with that is you often pay upwards of $20 for the coupon. Do you really only save $25 at this price point. Still worth it, but not worth missing the deal to wait on it.

I have a 15% in store coupon. Anyone know if this price is valid in store?

Depends on if you actually need the power increase of the 996. I personally have the 998 (newer version of 996) for contractor daily use and 98% of drilling is metal while i have the 796 at home and prefer it over the 998 for home use. The 796 is still a good drill but is smaller and lighter. 998 is 3 speed and 796 is 2 speed is only small feature i miss but not a big deal
I should have also mentioned that I have the DCD777 brushless drill already as well

Then if you get this deal for 300 and then buy the dcd996 drill for about 100 on ebay your still at 400 like other set and then can sell the 796 to bring your price under 400

Any chance you have an opinion on which to keep vs which to sell between my used DCD985 vs this new DCD796? I'm not a contractor. Just a weekend DIY guy.

The 985's only real benefit is that it has 3 speeds instead of 2 and a hair more power, which to most people probably doesn't matter. The 796 is brushless so it should get better battery life, it also appears to be slightly smaller/lighter, though Dewalt does a terrible job of laying out tool specs consistently to compare them. If it was me I'd probably keep the 796, i only sold mine because I already had a 996 which has a LOT more power.

I think you would like the dcd796 more due to it being lighter and smaller and still having good power. Your dcd985 will still prolly be more powerful but also that model isnt brushless so less runtime

Thanks for the info. Sounds like I'll be selling the 985 and keeping the 796!

Yeah I rarely use the 985 anyway; I prefer to use my impact driver (DCF885) whenever possible, including drilling with impact drill bits. I only use the larger 985 if I have to use tiny or huge drill bits that I don't have in an impact flavor.

The 796 is significantly smaller and lighter compared with my 985. Unlike my impact driver (and the 796), the 985 is a bit too unwieldy for my tastes to hang off of a belt.

That seems right. One of the batteries is supposed to be the Flexvolt that will give 3ah @ 60V or 9ah @ 20V depending on the tool. And then the other is a 2ah 20V right?
