Seems like a pretty good deal, but it's only a 90 day limited warranty from woot. I think I'll hold off and see what deals will be around for prime day in October. I don't want to end up having to replace the battery on the refurb.
It's confusing. Condition: Amazon Certified Refurbished. If you hover over that it says its a one year limited manufacturer's warranty like a new kindle.

Why is my prime account not giving me free shipping and handling?
I had the same problem, sign out and try again.

I picked up a 1st gen paperwhite for my 7 year old reader. She is only reading chapter books now, so this may maker her happy

My suggestion would be to keep < 10 years old hooked o the physical books.. then transition to these devices at some point in middle school. But given the Covid situation with less accessability for actual books in libraryu this is good for anyone Smilie

In for the acceptable $20 Paperwhite, I am still rocking one the older Kindles that has buttons. I figured it is as much as a physical hard cover so isn't that big of a hit. Thanks!

$20 removes those annoying ads. A bit high, but worth it when your kid and wife share a kindle and the special ads are romance novels with shirtless guys! Haha!!
FYI, I got my Paperwhite with those ads, and the first time a romance novel was advertised I called up and complained about there being "naked women on the kindle that my wife and small children use." They took the ads off for free.

I also don't have children.

Amazon may give you $25 when you want to trade it in for another Kindle. a small profit. Smilie

"Refurbished" is a word to be taken as, "we looked at it, didn't see anything wrong, and put it in a box"

Last time I got a refurbished product from Woot, there was an audible piece moving inside the unit and there was a porn video stored on the hard drive.

This is just an E-reader, sooo not remotely applicable, but worth noting from Woot! in my experience, they don't test their refurbished products.

These prices seem good but these devices are 8 years old.... that is a 8 year old battery.

I am thinking of a 6" ereader tablet but I will most likely get a adroid ereader such as the Poke 2. And now that color ereaders are finally here, I may end up geting one of those. These tablets seems to last for like a decade, so to me, if I spend $200 more... it is worth it.

I legit talked to Amazon once and told them "I'm a long time customer, could you do me a favor and take the ads off my kindle" and they did it for free. 🤷🏻
You can also mention some of the ads have language or pictures that are offensive, sexy, however you want to word it, and they will remove the ads at no charge.

You're complaining about additional hardware and free content?

I tried this with my wife's kindle once. No go. It's probably she's on one of my shared accounts that has almost not activity.

If you are going to spend $50, get the Kindle Voyage from eBay. It is a delight - much better experience than the paperwhite. For $20, the 1st gen paperwhite is a really good deal as well.

Is the 1st Gen Paperwhite waterproof like the newer ones? That was a big hit with one of my kids who got a new one last Christmas.
