Tamron 70-180mm f/2.8 Di III VXD Lens for Sony E

The 70-180mm F/2.8 features a compact and lightweight design with a 67mm filter diameter, the same as Tamron's highly esteemed 17-28mm F/2.8 (Model A046) and the 28-75mm F/2.8 (Model A036). The optical construction includes several special lens elements that contribute to the lens's overall superb imaging performance. Its very short 33.5" MOD (Minimum Object Distance) expands overall versatility. The lens utilizes Tamron's newly developed VXD (Voice-coil eXtreme-torque Drive) linear motor focus mechanism that produces an autofocus drive that's quieter and quicker than ever before.

It's grey market.

"Import Model. 1 Year Warranty by Seller"

The US models carry a 6 year manufacturer warranty. With Black Friday rapidly approaching, the official versions should soon be at or near this price.

"Our products are covered by a warranty of 1-year parts and 90-days for labor. If you need more information, please contact our customer service department for warranty info. 6AVE will provide a warranty of 1-year parts and 90-days for labor and defects for new products in any case where the manufacturer will not do so."

Gray market (no 6 year warranty from Tamron). BH has it for $100 more with warranty and no tax with Payboo credit card. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/pr...A514&smp=y

Yep, worth it to buy Tamron lenses from authorized retailers because of their excellent 6 year warranty. Greentoe [greentoe.com] is also a good option for lenses generally, as all sales there are from authorized retailers and you can get nice discounts. I got this lens shortly after it came out for $1075, tax included.

I'd be curious if Sigma finally announces 70-200mm 2.8 lens. Earlier in the year there were tons of rumors about it, but they have since died down and Sigma never said anything. If you're not in a hurry, I'd probably wait as long as you can before buying. At 200mm in-lens image stabilization is a fairly big deal and if Sigma can pull it off for not much more than Tamron that might be worth waiting for.

Good lord I am in the same boat. I literally check daily for any new news on this. I am huge sigma fan and have been impatiently waiting for this to come out. I hope it does soon!

Yeah... I'm happy with my Tamron 28-75mm f2.8 lens. It is softer than Sigma at telephoto end, but I primarily use Tamron for vacations/hiking so I'm willing to give up some sharpness at the 75mm in exchange for much lighter and smaller build than Sigma.

With 70-200 the calculus is much different, I'm not going to be lugging 70-200 on a 15 mile hike 6,000 feet up the mountain so the size/weight savings are not as important. I'd rather wait till Sigma comes out with their 70-200 for FE mount if only to see what they'll have to offer. I mean, they got to make one, the 70-200 lens is a staple for any camera body.
